life's best work.(sm)The Senior Underwriting Consultant will
analyze health benefit plan characteristics and assess risks as to
frequency and potential severity of loss of clients. They will
utilize underwriting criteria and policies to provide proper rating
methodologies. They will also build and maintain models to assist
in the economic analysis of market alternatives. The Senior
Underwriting Consultant is responsible for the evaluation and
recommend alternative pricing options and plan design changes based
on economic analysis and trends. The peer group associated with
this position is a professional team of underwriters, client
executives and regional sales vice presidents. To succeed in this
environment, the position will also require solid communication,
interpersonal and team skills.You can work onsite in Hartford, CT
or enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the
U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary
Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial modeling for reserve calculation, budget
calculation, and other ongoing reviews that directly aligns with
client strategies
- Validate renewals and request for proposals for accuracy
including utilization and experience reporting
- Conduct competitive analysis of all coverage lines and present
financial and contractual findings
- Respond to request for proposal questions, guarantees and other
related financial exhibits within specified timelines
- Prepare detailed review documentation for internal approvals
with management or senior leadership as required
- Assess data to develop guarantees, insured or other risk type
responses - includes utilization analysis and experience

Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree -
- 10+ years of experience in healthcare underwriting for any
variety of products: PPO, HMO, self-funded, ASO/fully insured,
group or individual
- 5+ years of experience with Risk Management
- Possible travel up to 10%Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree (in Math, Finance, Business, or related
degree) -
- Experience presenting financial and risk parameters to
leadership
- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office suite
(including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing

range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary
range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600.
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to
education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to
