Job Description:
International Programs Coordinator Required Qualifications (as
evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's Degree (foreign
equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of full-time administrative
experience. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree and
one (1) year of full-time administrative experience (related
student work experience may be considered). International related
experience such as study abroad, working in international education
or related fields. Experience in program coordination. Proficiency
in using technology and software for student management and
communication (i.e. Peoplesoft, Slate, Banner, etc.). Preferred
Qualifications: Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in a
related field (e.g., International Relations, International
Education). Participation in a study abroad program. Experience in
advising and/or recruiting students for study abroad/exchange
programs. Proficiency in a second language. Proficiency with
PeopleSoft or Terra Dotta. Brief Description of Duties: The
International Programs Coordinator is responsible for advising
international exchange students; recruiting students for study
abroad programs and assisting with the administration of study
abroad programs; and responsible for managing the transfer
articulation process that allows students to gain actionable
insights into their progress towards degree. The successful
incumbent will have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and
written and verbal communication skills. ? Administrative - Recruit
study abroad students and coordinate marketing and promotion of
study abroad opportunities. Manage the admissions policy and
process. Assist students and faculty with program logistics and
coordination. Oversee international partnerships, international
study opportunities and internships as assigned. Partner with
SUNY's international health provider to ensure the safety of
faculty, staff and students. Work closely with stakeholder units on
campus (Student Accounts, Registrar, Bursar, Financial Aid, Health
Insurance, Advising, Transfer, Judicial, etc.) to ensure
streamlined procedures for study abroad programs, including
academic matters involving credit transfers, international
transcripts, financial aid awards/scholarships, etc. Schedule
courses for study abroad programs. Maintain budgets for individual
programs. Maintain updated communication and recruitment pieces
(brochures, website). Work closely with other SUNY institutions
regarding students participating in programs through the SUNY
collaborative agreements. ? Advising - Advise students in assigned
study abroad programs in selection of appropriate program,
academics while abroad, program-specific prerequisites, visa
requirements, health & safety, cultural adjustment, and on-site
administration. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of SBU curriculum
to ensure study abroad program integrity. Ensure high quality and
responsive student service. Communicate with assigned partner
universities in maintaining strong exchange relationships.
Communicate information timely to students, parents, and SBU
personnel regarding policies, procedures, program descriptions,
financial aid, scholarships, credit transfer, and academic
considerations. ? Development - Collaborate with international
institutions, as well as SBU academic departments and faculty on
study abroad program development. Responsible for implementation
and growth of SBU's study abroad and exchange programs. Communicate
regularly with program directors and international institutions
regarding enrollment numbers and promotional materials. Manage the
post-acceptance process- evaluation and assessment of programs.
Conduct seminars, information sessions, study abroad fairs and
training sessions promoting study abroad programs. ? Information
and Technology - Maintain the accuracy of the complex student
participant and registration data from various
campuses/universities to be reported by Institutional Research to
SUNY Administration. Coordinate with Institutional Research
directly for accurate reporting. Record all programs with SUNY
Administration. Administer and manage all student agreements
involving assigned study abroad programs. ? Other duties - Other
duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and
departmental mission. Special Notes: This is a full-time
appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime
provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to
maintain FLSA exemption. For this position, we are unable to
sponsor candidates for work visas. In addition to the employee's
base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual
