from each other. Summary Description: Buckingham Browne & Nichols
School is seeking a full-time Upper School History teacher to teach
four sections of Upper School History, including African-American
History and either Macroeconomics, U.S. History, or Global History.
We are seeking a knowledgeable History teacher who values student
voice and agency, utilizes a variety of pedagogical approaches, can
work independently, and is excited to work as part of a team in
curriculum development. Other faculty member responsibilities at
BB&N encompass advising, as well as community,
athletic/coaching, and student life activities and program needs.
Candidates should be comfortable working with colleagues in
designing, innovating, and delivering a curriculum that
incorporates skill development, metacognition, and cultural
competency, and that caters to a range of student learners. Key
Tasks and Responsibilities: Key functions for this position
include, but are not limited to: Plans and develops an engaging,
age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to
educational best practices and curriculum guidelines. Prepares
materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates, corrects,
and grades student performance. Supervises the behavior of students
in the classroom, school grounds, and educational trips, and
discusses academic difficulties or behavioral problems with
students as they arise. Monitors students' progress throughout the
year and evaluates preparedness for graduation, vocational school,
or college, as appropriate. Communicates progress and concerns with
tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other
faculty, staff, and/or campus Director. Builds and maintains
positive relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and
visitors. Maintains required paperwork for individual student
files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary
records. Monitors halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other
faculty and staff. Participates in faculty meetings, educational
conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other
training seminars. Maintains knowledge of research, developments,
and best practices. Performs related duties as assigned, such as
sponsoring student activities or organizations, including
athletics. Requirements, Skills, and Competencies: BB&N seeks
candidates who: Hold an undergraduate degree in history or a
related field. An advanced degree in history, education, or a
similar field is preferred. Have teaching experience and an
educational background in African American history, along with
either Macroeconomics, United States history, or modern Global
History. Preference will be given to candidates with experience
teaching history at the high school level. Possess a passion for
history and teaching that contributes to a dynamic and engaging
classroom experience for students. Balance pedagogical approaches
to teaching (inquiry-based, small group work, seminar discussions,
socratic conversations, project and problem-based assignments,
etc.). Work effectively with a diverse group of people, including
students, parents, faculty, and staff. Thrive as part of a
collaborative team of colleagues within the History Department and
with teachers in other disciplines. Demonstrate dedication to
supporting adolescent growth and development. Value advancing
students’ knowledge and affirmation of themselves and others.
Commits to working in and fostering an inclusive community by

and the broader community Salary: $69,000.00 - $101,701.00 BB&N
offers competitive salaries and benefits, employing equitable and
consistent compensation practices. The starting salary for any
hired candidate is based on experience within salary bands.
Compensation for eligible full-time and part-time employees
includes a 403(b) plan with up to a 10% match of salary and other
