Responsibilities: The Test Equipment Product Engineer serves as the technical lead for the development, validation, and troubleshooting of Electronics Support Equipment (ESE) and Special Test Equipment (STE). The Test Equipment Engineer is involved from the start of product design, supports engineering design verification testing, product acceptance, qualification, and production test. Responsibilities include:

  • Support the test equipment design & development
  • Interpret test data & results
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment to support production needs
  • Hands-on oversight of hardware ensuring test equipment delivery to internal & external customers on schedule
  • Develop manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies to achieve defined quality and rate goals, including training of operators.
  • Populates product structures and routers in IFS Applications, an ERP system.
  • Prepares process documentation including standard work packages, and manufacturing instructions and process specifications in a visual format.
  • Develop the layout of manufacturing cell design including tooling, machinery and equipment.
  • Responsible for safety and environmental compliance while maintaining effectiveness of product work cell.
  • Drives continuous improvement activities including lean Cell conversion, SPC implementation and SMED.
  • Perform PFMEAs and DFMs to identify and mitigate process risks early in the design process Requirements: The successful candidate shall have a BS/MS in Electrical or Computer engineering and 5 years minimum of test equipment engineering experience. Required experience includes:
    • Demonstrated competency in developing automated test equipment for electronic products
    • Digital and/or analog circuit board design & troubleshooting
    • Strong experience using National Instruments test & instrumentation products including LabVIEW
    • Requirements derivation and specification
    • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for interaction with teammates, test technicians, management and with customers.
    • Proven ability to interpret and analyze mechanical, and/or electrical specification requirements and data. Preferred Skills:
      • Experience working in an aerospace industry test lab or production environment is preferred
      • PCB Assembly, Electro-mechanical Assembly, IPC & J-STD Specification Knowledge
      • Process Development, Writing Procedures, Working with PCB Contract Manufacturers
      • Electronics Testing Experience a plus (Oscilloscopes, Meters, Power Supplies, etc.)
      • Experience in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing systems or Continuous Improvement and strong problem solving skills
      • Experience working in a development atmosphere is a plus
      • Familiarity with configuration management practices
      • Fundamental knowledge of root cause/corrective and preventative action and the ability to walk project teams and customers through the analysis. QUALIFICATIONS BS/MS in Electrical or Computer engineering and 5 years minimum of test equipment engineering experience. Must be US Citizen
