range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and
represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the
country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by
a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location
of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and
experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As
part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program,
employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive

Is the Opportunity? Travelers is seeking a Senior Engineer (Cloud
Infrastructure) to join our organization as we grow and transform
our Technology landscape. Specifically, the Infrastructure and
Cloud Services (ICS) organization has an exciting opportunity for
an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer whose primary responsibilities
will involve implementing Travelers cloud strategy to create a
secure, reliable and cost-effective platform. Day to day, the
Senior Cloud Engineer will deliver foundational cloud solutions
focusing on automation as well as providing consulting services for
migration to the cloud, and collaborate with peers and partners
across organizations to develop and deliver comprehensive cloud
solutions.
Under limited supervision, the Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible
for the successful design, planning, and deployment of cloud
architectures and technologies used with each service delivery
organization (SDO). Working collaboratively with engineers across
SDOs, the Senior Cloud Engineer will proactively identify ways to
improve and optimize the entire environment, through tactical
recommendations and strategic plans, and develop comprehensive
solutions across Infrastructure and Cloud Services.
This position will be a team lead which includes providing
technical leadership, fostering a team environment, and mentoring
other people.What Will You Do?
- Plans and executes at a strategic level, lead the design,
development and implementation of significantly complex, un-scoped
problems that extend beyond the confines of a team and establish
software engineering best practices and standards. -
- Leverage proven problem solving skills including debugging
skills to determine source of issues in unfamiliar code or systems
and the ability to recognize and solve repetitive problems rather
than working around them, recognize mistakes using them as learning
opportunities and break down large problems into smaller, more
manageable ones. -
- Provide technical leadership, foster a team environment,
inspire and motivate others, and provide mentorship and feedback to
technical resources.
- Evaluate systems specifications regarding customer
requirements, transforming specifications into cost-effective,
technically correct solutions. -
- Help prioritize work and manages projects within established
time and budget objectives and customer priorities.
- Hands-on R&D prototyping of new technology solutions -
- Write and support Infrastructure-As-Code in Terraform within an
approved pipeline and adheres to best practices and standards.
- Effectively meet the needs of various levels of technical and
non-technical audiences and model and assist others in the practice
of mindful communication, active listening, and messaging . Apply s
trong communicat ion skills describ ing technology concepts in ways
the business can understand . D ocument effectively so that
systems/architectures can be maintained or built upon . C
ollaborate across disparate groups, helping to identify common
goals and gain consensus .
- Develops strategic solutions that align with the business
objectives and architectural direction of the organization.
- Drives the design and ensures delivery of departmental and
corporate programs.
- Leverages infrastructure technology to develop and/or redesign
technology solutions.
- Builds, leverages and maintains effective alliances across
technical and business community.
- Interacts with customers, vendors, and leadership to achieve
effective, strategic, and fiscally responsible results.
- Seen as a technical expert across the organization and the
industry.
- Perform other duties as assigned.What Will Our Ideal Candidate
Have?
- Nine years of experience in cloud based technologies
preferred.
- Three years of experience as a technical lead preferred.
- Executed technology modernization initiatives including
migration to public cloud providers
- Cloud Architecture Certifications (AWS, GCP, or Azure) or
strong architecture experience on Cloud
- Strong development background with knowledge of Java, Python,
GoLang and other scripting languages
- Strong background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) including
certifications ( Terraform Associate )
- Supported efforts to accelerate applications migrating apps to
be hosted on Public Cloud
- Expert knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as
Network, Database, Server, Storage etc. preferred.
- Knowledge of process discipline and IDLC methodologyWhat is a
Must Have?
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or
its equivalent in work experience, plus five years of experience in
Technology required;
- Alternatively, a Master's degree in CS or a related field and
three years of work experience in Technology.
- One year of experience as a technical lead required.What Is in
