Job Description:
The sweetgreen Infinite Kitchen automates the assembly of
sweetgreen meals for restaurant guests. Designed and built entirely
in-house, the Infinite Kitchen powers locations across the
country.We're hiring a Product QA Engineer II to help ensure the
reliability, accuracy, and safety of the systems that power our
automated kitchens.We're looking for a sharp, detail-obsessed
Product QA Engineer II to join the Automation Team in our
Charlestown, MA office. You'll work alongside software engineers
and designers to deeply understand our systems, test new features,
organize product specs, document expected behaviors, and flag
inconsistencies. You'll be the connection between development and
deployment-ensuring what's specified gets built, and what gets
built actually works.This role is ideal for someone with a
technical mindset and strong organizational skills who may
eventually want to grow into a product management or systems
analyst role. You'll need curiosity, persistence, and an eye for
edge cases to help guide the evolution of our robotics and
automation systems.You will work very closely with our lead product
designer, who defines the specs and user experience for our
internal tools and interfaces.What You'll Do
- Understand and Validate Core Systems: Test our robotics system
and digital products that power the Infinite Kitchen-ensuring it
can reliably startup, assemble meals, and handle peak loads like a
lunch rush without failure.
- Test Interface Applications: Validate functionality across
multiple iPad apps used by store team members, including remote
control tools for cleaning and order management apps.
- Organize QA Workflows: Help create and execute structured test
plans. Ensure each new feature or change is fully vetted in
realistic conditions before hitting production.
- Track and Report: Maintain detailed records of bugs, edge
cases, and unexpected behaviors. Own parts of the spec and
documentation libraries and keep them up to date.
- Support Releases: Be hands-on during release cycles-test new
builds in staging, validate in our office lab, and contribute
go/no-go recommendations to ensure stability across our
restaurants.
- Join Rotational Support Shifts: Help support restaurants by
being on call for three days, 5 times a year
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with engineers and
stakeholders to deeply understand the systems being built, their
edge cases, and key constraints. Partner closely with our product
managers to align test coverage with intended product specs and
user experience.
- Champion Product Quality: Hold the line on what "done" really
means. Be the voice for end-to-end reliability, clarity, and
polish.Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in QA, technical product support, or
systems testing
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Comfort managing complex systems with many edge cases
- Ability to read and understand engineering and product specs
and translate them into meaningful test plans
- Clear, structured communication skills-both written and
verbal
- Familiarity with QA practices including manual testing,
exploratory testing, and writing detailed bug reports
- A curiosity-driven mindset and tenacity for troubleshooting
tricky, intermittent issuesBonus
- Exposure to robotics, industrial automation, or mechatronic
systems
- Experience with Jira or similar tools to organize and track
detailed test artifacts
- Interest in product management, systems thinking, or operations
