Job Description:
This is not a design desk job—it's a critical hands-on
leadership role in one of New Jersey’s most established industrial
operations. We're seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to lead
reliability initiatives, troubleshoot plant systems, and manage
ongoing mechanical operations in a high-throughput manufacturing
facility. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who
thrives on the production floor and knows how to keep equipment
running safely, efficiently, and profitably. Key Responsibilities ·
Oversee mechanical maintenance for high-demand equipment: pumps,
presses, fans, dryers, refiners, gearboxes, conveyors, and more ·
Lead preventative and predictive maintenance efforts, including
vibration, oil, and thermal analysis · Manage repair projects,
shutdowns, and capital maintenance efforts from concept to
execution · Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production,
safety, procurement) to align operations with KPIs and plant goals
· Monitor and enforce compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other
regulatory standards · Supervise contractors and internal tech
teams during overhauls and installations · Contribute to budget
forecasting, project planning, and cost control strategies · Serve
as part of the plant’s emergency response and on-call support
structure Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical
Engineering or related technical discipline · 10 years of
mechanical maintenance leadership in heavy industrial or paper/pulp
manufacturing · Strong working knowledge of steam systems, rotating
machinery, high-horsepower motors, MCCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics
· Experience with CMMS systems and a deep understanding of
reliability-centered maintenance (RCM/TPM) · Proven track record
managing projects and solving field-based mechanical issues ·
Ability to lead teams, develop talent, and deliver results under
pressure Preferred Qualifications · Capital project management
experience · Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma tools and
methodologies · Training experience or background in technical
