Job Description:

Job Summary: The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will understand and work alongside the CEO/Managing Partner to implement the strategic plan and organizational goals of eye care practice, working in concert with the Board of Directors and management team. The COO is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and directing the overall clinical, customer service and business operations for the practice. The COO is expected to work with each department leader to help them maximize the performance of their department. Responsibilities:Operations1. Oversees the daily operations of eight offices emphasizing revenue enhancement and cost containment while optimizing appropriate staffing and patient satisfaction2. Co-develops with the CEO and implements the business' strategic initiatives3. Monitors financial performance and key indicators and work with CPA to prepare the annual budget4. Participates with the entire management team to discover and implement improvements to all clinical and business operational policies and procedures5. Direct control and supervision over staff.6. Indirect control and supervision, with oversight by the CEO, over staff7. Oversight of facility development, lease negotiations and other large vendor relationships8. Participates in the development and refinement of quality improvement processes9. Represents the practice with patients, vendors and referring providers as appropriate Staff Management1. Provides day to day management, oversight and guidance of directors and personnel2. Establishes policies and promotes company culture and vision3. Conducts regular meetings with the team4. Performance coaching for staff who fail to perform and conducts and implements "Performance Improvement Programs" when necessary5. Ensures all policies and procedures are followed by employees6. Promotes good customer service skills for employees7. Designs, develops and implements training programs and goals that are relevant and necessary for the continuous development of competencies of the team8. Interviews, hires, coaches, trains, develops and terminates personnel in accordance with company standards and polices9. Evaluates management team quarterly according to bonus criteria10. Conducts annual performance evaluations of the management team11. Meets regularly with managers, physicians and optometrists to promote communication and cohesivenessCompliance1. Keeps up with contractual and government regulatory changes and disseminates information to the CEO, Board of directors and managers2. Represents practice and interacts with selected regulatory agencies, insurance carriers and other professional and community groups3. Handles complex patient and referral source complaints and issues; monitors patient satisfaction surveys4. Evaluates business practices, including HIPPA, to assure compliance
