Job Description:

The Human Resource Director is responsible for managing and administering the overall human resources function of the Club. Directing and leading the workforce planning, organizational design, recruitment, compensation, benefits, safety, employee relations, performance management, succession planning and staff development practices and initiatives. They will consult with the President and Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Trustees on the strategic planning for the Club, and serve as a link between the Club's leadership team and its workforce. Provide advice and counsel to management in both the strategic development and tactical implementation of policies and practices that comply with all applicable regulations consistent with the Boys & Girls Club mission and values. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Human Resources Director originates and leads the Human Resource practices and objectives to provide a mission driven, employee oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes transparency, quality, productivity, workplace standards, and goal attainment in alignment with the recruitment, engagement, ongoing development and retention of a superior workforce to deliver upon the Club's strategy and mission. --Leadership

  • In collaboration with the President and Chief Executive Officer and Board Human Resources Committee, establish and implement policies and procedures for the effective management of Club human resources, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations and community practice, as well as Boys & Girls Club mission and values.
  • Provide information and metrics to support management decision -- making about policy issues, recruitment processes, staff development needs, employee engagement, retention, compensation and benefit practices and costs. Prepare and deliver reports summarizing human resources scorecards, trends, programs and activities. Strategic Planning
    • Contribute to operational strategic planning, by providing perspective on workforce planning, organizational design and operational structure; staffing and employee engagement, development and retention needs to support the Club's strategic directions and goals.
    • Identify and evaluate opportunities to assess and improve human resources policies, procedures and programs to ensure they inspire and elicit superior performance of staff to meet the Club's current and future strategic and tactical needs.
    • Continuously develop, recommend, and implement modification of human resources management policies, procedures and programs to the President and Chief Executive Officer and board. Talent and Resource Management
      • Develop, promote and lead the workplace culture strategy to encourage engagement, ensuring effective working relationships and transparent, open communications. Drive inclusion and respect for the diversity of Club staff, volunteers and members. Take prompt, appropriate action to proactively address and respond to conflicts and employee relations issues between staff members.
      • Support the recruitment and selection of staff with the qualifications necessary for successful performance, recommending recruitment sources and strategies, and ensure recruitment process records are maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements.
      • Support staff career development, and corresponding engagement and retention strategies and tactics that identify and address opportunities for training and skill building within budget limits.
      • Develop and or recommend human capital scorecards and or dashboards to identify trends, strengths and or gaps regarding the value and effectiveness of HR initiatives, in hiring, turnover, training, and engagement.
      • Manage and control expenditures against budget, particularly in the areas of recruitment, compensation, benefits and staff development. Establish proactive strategies for responding to employee issues that minimize potential expenses.
      • Manage administrative and operational systems for maintaining all employment and personnel records, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
      • Ensure a healthy and safe environment in compliance with all OSHA and other regulatory requirements.-- Partnership Development
        • Develop collaborative partnerships and benchmark other Clubs, consultants and vendors, as well as youth serving, professional and/or nonprofit organizations, to leverage best practices and exemplify professional credibility within the community. Marketing and Public Relations
          • Develop and maintain public relations to promote awareness of the Club and stimulate interest in employment opportunities with Boys & Girls Clubs. RELATIONSHIPS/STAKEHOLDERS: Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions, instruct, and advise/counsel. External: Maintain contact with other Clubs, vendors, consultants, organizations, government agencies and others to achieve objectives, manage costs, share information and resolve problems.
