Overview of the PositionStrategic Sourcing serves as a trusted advisor to senior management by having a deep understanding of the company's spend profile, utilizing advanced analytics, and minimizing risk via supplier governance and working closely with risk governors across the enterprise.The Real Estate team is a sustainable real estate operation that focuses on strategic value-added solutions for business unit needs, while managing service levels that keep our operating environments productive and safe.Reporting to the AVP, Procurement Digital Solutions and Process lead, the Director, Digital Solutions will (1) provide architectural leadership and technological recommendations and transition strategies that support the development and implementation of Procurement and Agile initiatives, (2) ensure Procurement IT solutions align with the evolving needs of the business and Procurement function, (3) serve as the central point of contact with our technology providers (e.g., Coupa) to ensure awareness and support of release management (e.g., patches, updates, upgrades, etc.), (4) work with Technology to develop data standards and guidelines with respect to data ownership, coding structures, and data replication to ensure access to and integrity of data sets, and (5) foster good teamwork between Procurement Operations and Strategic Sourcing teams, ensuring good process design and controls, with focus on customer service and positive engagement scores.ResponsibilitiesThe Director, Digital Solutions will work closely with the Director, Process and Governance, Director, Program Management, and Master Data Management (part of Analytics & Reporting team) to ensure that all Source-to-Pay process designs are operating effectively and will drive adoption of the new backbone tool (myBuy), ensuring strong policy and process governance, straight-through processing, seamless service delivery, and excellent turnaround times.This person will interact with direct reports to the Chief Procurement Officer, peers within the SSRE CoE, all other levels within SSRE, as well as key internal stakeholders (especially IT, THIP (Information Protection) and BRO (Business Resiliency)).Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide architectural leadership and technological recommendations and transition strategies that support the development and implementation of Procurement and Agile initiatives
  • Ensure Procurement IT solutions align with the evolving needs of the business and Procurement function and are in line with the overall Finance Technology Roadmap
  • Work with our software providers, key stakeholders, IT, and integration partners (when applicable), to provide all thought leadership and management relating to releases, updates, upgrades, including creation of test scripts to be used in SIT or UAT
  • Foster good teamwork between Procurement Operations and Strategic Sourcing teams, ensuring good process design and controls, with focus on customer service and positive engagement scores.
  • Lead the digital transformation as part of the ongoing Procurement Operating model transformation and provide regular communication to Senior Leadership
  • Partner with IT and business line teams to align on overall and Procurement IT strategies and ensure focus on items critical to continuing build out the Procurement Operating Model
  • Help define the strategy and process for solutions and road maps for architectural recommendations for procurement at the company
  • Lead and drive SSRE strategic initiatives around digital capabilities leveraging resources inside and outside the organization to deliver optimal results
  • Assess the applicability of Procurement IT tools for the company's business needs (i.e., portfolio optimization), develop a working view and be able to articulate to Senior Management
  • Drive the process to set the strategy for escalating priorities for remediation of application stability and performance
  • Provide leadership in identifying new concepts, ideas, techniques, best practices and technology assistance (best practices, guidelines and models for supported technologies)
  • Define the digital Procurement vision and ensure alignment with overall Corporate goals and the organizational technology roadmap
  • Assess the evolving needs of internal stakeholders, including Procurement and business professionals and drive the development of easily understood plans that can be translated to action
  • Educate and influence internal stakeholders on the most effective use of technology, including engaging with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translating those needs into digital applications.Additional Responsibilities:
    • Ensure maintaining the quality and consistency of critical and complete procurement data across the enterprise
    • Work with Technology to develop data standards and guidelines with respect to data ownership, coding structures, and data replication to ensure access to and integrity of data sets
    • Partner with Analytics & Reporting team to ensure consistency of data sets and compliance with Master Data Management (MDM) standards.
    • Support the development of a cohesive MDM strategy for procurement data
    • Deploy, manage and enforce standards and rules for system enhancements, working in partnership with Data & Analytics team and the Operations Committee
    • Design and maintain data-related processes for categories, vendors, catalogs etc.
    • Work with Procurement category managers and Data and Analytics team to ensure adoption of MDM processes and guidelines
    • Develop strategies to effectively process non-addressable spend
    • Partner with the Tax team to integrate a tax solution to support proper Sales & Use tax allocationsExperience & SkillsEducational Level/Experience:
      • Bachelor's degree in MIS or a related field a plus
      • 6+ years of experience in enterprise, application, and/or information architecture requiredProfessional skills:
        • Experience with service-based architecture, SaaS.
        • Advanced understanding of capabilities and direction of technology, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of the technology required and the needs of business environments necessary to support assigned projects
        • Experience with implementing cultural change at an organization level
        • Knowledge of procurement digital solutions, especially Coupa, is a plus
        • Experience leading strategic initiatives in a highly matrixed environmentInterpersonal skills:

          • Project management skillsCompensationThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
