This role will work across both the Personal Lines and Small Commercial Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams and act as a strategic partner and trusted advisor. - He/she will play a key role in looking across the activities of each of the businesses and identify opportunities to streamline processes. This role will also get involved in monthly business reviews on an as needed basis. In addition, the role will help develop financial plans that are fully aligned with The Hartford's strategic objectives. Critical to success is a deep understanding of the strategy, operations, initiatives, business drivers and environmental factors that impact both Personal Lines and Small Commercial. - Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Drive continuous improvement in management reporting, metrics and forecasting across both Personal Lines and Small Commercial FP&A.
  • Provide financial leadership and analysis in the development and ongoing monitoring of CBAs for Personal Lines initiatives. Ensure appropriate inclusion of benefits in forecasted financials as well as ongoing reporting after implementation.
  • Assist in the analysis and reporting of Personal Lines and Small Commercial results to ensure accuracy, timeliness and relevance of financial and management reporting. -
  • Work with other FP&A team members, and leadership from Personal Lines and Small Commercial, to develop financial outlooks, operating plans and other financial analyses to support the operations and strategy.
  • Advise and assist business leaders, evaluating and assisting with financial plans and models. -
  • Ensure the adequacy of controls including financial planning and forecasting, financial analysis, and provision of appropriate controls and reports as well as accounting
  • Support broader Finance activities and initiatives as needed. Serve as a primary point of contact for Expense Center of Excellence staff.
  • Develop strong working relationships throughout Personal Lines, Small Commercial and the broader enterprise and be a valuable contributor in the development and execution of the overall strategy of Personal Lines and Small Commercial. Experience and Qualifications:
    • The successful candidate will have a strong record of accomplishment as a finance leader in the financial services industry with a minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience. Property and Casualty insurance industry experience is preferred. -
    • The candidate must have strong analytical skills and a track record of streamlining processes. -
    • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills and must be comfortable and confident in frequently interacting with senior leaders on a variety of complex business and financial issues.
    • Candidate must be highly motivated and inquisitive, accepting of a great deal of accountability and able to work in a team environment.
    • An undergraduate degree in finance or accounting is preferred and a CPA or MBA is a plus. CompensationThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
