Administration Description Position Description:The Director of
Philanthropy serves as the principal fundraising and events manager
for Harc, bringing a creative and innovative approach to all of
Harc's philanthropic activities. In collaboration with nonprofit
thought leaders engaged by Harc, he or she is responsible for the
oversight, planning and implementation of a comprehensive
fundraising program that secures the financial resources from
individuals, foundations, corporations and others to support Harc's
programming in pursuit of its mission. S/he manages all fundraising
events, major gifts and grant functions, and direct response
fundraising solicitations. S/he works with Harc's leadership team
to establish fundraising goals and is accountable for these goals.
S/he hires, manages and establishes fundraising goals for
fundraising staff. The Director of Philanthropy is supervised by
the Chief Executive Officer and supervises in turn the philanthropy
staff and partners.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Planning and
Management:
- Work closely with the Chief Executive Officer to develop and
implement an annual Development Plan that aligns with Harc's
strategic plan and priorities.
- Develop and manage fundraising budget.
- Oversee the ongoing development and maintenance of
fundraising-related systems including but not limited to donor
management, research, gift processing and recognition
- Prepare regular reports on the progress and success of
fundraising activities.
- Supervises a Development SpecialistFundraising Events:
- Primary manager of fundraising events such as Harc's annual
auction, Walk and Roll and others.
- Responsible for event planning, budgeting, results analysis,
and vendor contract negotiations.
- Works with marketing department or external partner on the
production of all event materials and public relations.Major Gifts:
- Work with external resources on the development of
organizational case statements and a Major Gifts Moves Management
process.
- Develop major donor portfolios for management and assign
portfolios to be managed by leadership and staff.
- Manage a select group donors and prospects.
- Plan and oversee coordination of major donor engagement
campaigns, events and activities.Grants:
- Manage external Grant writer and oversee grant seeking
activities for the organization including research, proposal
writing and reporting requirements;
- Assign and help prepare proposals and reports, as
necessaryDirect Response Fundraising:
- Working with external resources, responsible for the approval
of the organization's direct response (e.g., mail, email, social
media) content and schedule.General Communications:
- Responsible for the development of organizational press
releases and response to media inquiries.Salary:Commensurate with
experience; potential bonus for exceeding annual goalsBenefits:For

Requirements Qualifications:
- At least seven years of non-profit fundraising experience, with
a proven track record of success in managing fundraising
events.
- Strong planning, prioritization, and analytical skills
- High level of initiative and desire to meet specific goals
- Ability to manage multiple projects, requests and deadlines
simultaneously
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication
skills
- Outstanding customer service skills, tact, discretion and
attention to detail; a commitment to excellence

Director of Development Location Harc About the Organization HARC
is a major provider of clinical and supportive services for people
with intellectual disability and related challenges. Serving
greater Hartford since 1951, HARC provides the full range of
services from intermittent support to pervasive care. Services
include: early intervention through Connecticut's Birth-to-Three
System, family support, respite and year round recreation,
employment and adult day programs, behavioral health, residential,
elderly and advocacy. HARC advocates for civil rights, supportive
services throughout the lifetime, and quality of life for people
with intellectual disability and their families.
HARC's programs have national accreditation and licenses. Though
HARC has become a large multi-service organization, it retains a
strong sense of family. The Board of Directors consists of
committed community leaders including parents, adult siblings and
self-advocates.
HARC's mission is to help individuals with intellectual disability
and their families enjoy lives of quality, inclusion and dignity by
