Associate Actuarial Director is the subject matter expert and
trusted advisor for understanding and interpreting the key drivers
and risk of US and international accident/health/other risks as
they emerge and impact Global Solutions businesses. This individual
will be involved in the development of pricing methodologies, risk
management identification and mitigation, setting pricing
assumptions for major medical and other ancillary products. This
individual will develop/file rates, and research and conduct
studies on pricing for US and non-US insurance licenses. You'll
enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S.
as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities:
- Critically review, adapt, modify USA know-how to international
insurance environment, develop/apply/validate pricing methods and
principles
- Prepare documentation, justification, and responses for rate
filings. Sign and certify rate filings.
- Analyze/update cost, methods and assumptions that are used in
rating models
- Develop pricing and risk analytics for both U.S. and
International claims costs
- Research US federal and state regulations, recommend
appropriate adjustments to comply with regulations.
- Ensure profitable pricing
- Aggregate and analyze applicable data for pricing projects
- Interact with functional areas within UHC to recommend pricing
and risk solutions
- Work with external consultants to accomplish projects You'll be

you may be interested in. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Actuarial Science or
related field
- Actuarial designation (ASA or FSA)
- 5+ years of progressive experience in actuarial pricing/risk
and data analysis
- Experience with rate filings
- Experience dealing with ambiguity and presenting complex
concepts to varying audiences
- Experience presenting and defending your recommendations
- Advanced or higher level of proficiency in Excel
- Willing and able to work in various global time zones Preferred
Qualifcations:
- Experience working in a "start-up" environment
- Experience with pre-ACA rating and regulations in multiple
states
- Exposure to multiple facets of various insurance products
(life, other A&H lines, P&C): product design, pricing, risk
management, reporting/reserving
- Experience in translating business-driven data needs to
technical data/programming and non-actuarial areas
- Demonstrated ability in successfully building relationships and
working with resources/tools across multiple business functions,
within affiliated companies
- Proficiency in a second language
- Proficiency with SAS and/or SQL
- Proficiency and experience with MS Access
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Solid communication skills, both oral and written to a
non-actuarial audience. Able to simplify complex actuarial work
into fundamental concepts, conclusions and recommendations
- Solid organizational skills

$97,300 to $176,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada
residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors
including but not limited to education, work experience,
certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group
