it.Compensation OverviewThe annual base salary range provided for
this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad
range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual
salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors,
including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the
skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the
candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our
comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also
eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.Salary

Opportunity?In the Claim Analytic Insights organization, we deliver
actionable, analytical insights to our Claim business partners
through innovative data and information delivery solutions to help
drive business decisions and enable superior results. We have the
exciting opportunity to leverage analytics to impact groups across
the entire Claim organization - ranging from our front-line Claim
professionals and managers to the legal & investigative
professionals supporting them and even our Travelers' Claim
customers, aiming to improve their claim experience. Our overall
vision is to advance the ability to fuel analytic-driven business
decisions by accelerating cross-enterprise collaboration and
capabilities. As a Director, Decision Science, you will combine
data expertise, statistical principles, business understanding,
relationship building, and communication skills that will help to
advance the analytical maturity and skillset of the team, influence
analytic strategies and effectively measure business outcomes on
our Claim investments. Through explanatory modeling and analytics
as well as experimental design and related inferential techniques,
you will surface actionable insights that influence business
decisions and strategies. Simply put, you are helping the business
understand 'the why' underneath Claim's business and customer
trends and support delivery of key Claim initiatives. The position
is on the Strategy & Decision Analytics team, a small and growing
team within the larger, well-established Claim Business
Intelligence & Analytics organization. We're focused on changing
how data and analytic solutions are strategized, planned, produced,
and consumed with the goal of ensuring actionable insights and a
quantified business impact. In this role, you will collaborate
closely with senior leadership, LOB business partners, business
analytic partners and Claim Technology leads, using data to tell a
story and directly influence the key analytic business strategies
here in Claim. This role will not have direct reports but will
require the ability to successfully influence others. This role may
be based 100% remotely or in one of our offices.

- Determine and use appropriate techniques that may include
diagnostic analysis, active monitoring and/or multivariate modeling
methods that can be used to influence strategic business decisions
by balancing constraints and opportunities.
- Utilize a deep understanding of the business to procure data
for current and future analysis or prototypes for new data asset,
while following coding best practices.
- Possess a strong command of internal data sources, explore new
and unstructured data sources to assess potential business
value.
- Be a mentor or resource for less experienced analytic talent,
onboard new employees and interns, and provide support for
recruiting and talent assessment efforts.
- Explore and implement new data and analytic tools, techniques
and industry best practices to apply to business problems.
- Interpret and synthesize findings across multiple analyses and
influence optimal business action based on balancing business
constraints and analytical findings.
- Apply appropriate visualization (charts, graphs, maps, etc.) to
analytic insights so that they may be delivered to various
audiences.
- Interpret and communicate findings to key stakeholders.
Recommend optimal business action based on balancing business

- Build organizational partnerships across lines and functional
teams to define and inform key strategic decisions.
- Ensure sound data strategy, quality, and coding best practices
and bring recommendations and suggestions for improvements to
supporting areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.What Will Our Ideal Candidate
Have?
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM related field, or a Business School
Master's Degree with a concentration in a technical or analytical
field.
- Seven years of related data and analytic experience.
- Experience using explanatory, diagnostic, and inferential
techniques such as experimental design, hypothesis testing,
clustering analysis, time series and other statistical modeling
algorithms with the ability to decide the appropriate methodology
for the purpose.
- Experience working on large-scale multidimensional data using
advanced knowledge of open-source cloud-enabled analytical
programming languages.
- Experience leading and managing complex projects and
strategies, including familiarity with Agile structures and best
practices.
- Ability to think strategically and use judgement to resolve
issues as they arise.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact,
tailor, and translate analyses and methodology and influence at
senior levels of the organization.
- Proactively build and own professional business relationships
across the business and data & analytic community in Claim and
across the Enterprise.
- Experience with a programming language such as; Python, SQL, or
R. Familiarity with SAS.
- Experience with Data Engineering principles such as; ETL/ELT,
data quality checks, and data modeling.
- The ability to find knowledge, capture it, and share it with
the broader team.What is a Must Have?
- Bachelor's degree or five years of experience in data,
analytics, engineering, science, technical analytical fields or
