Job Description:
Designs and implements complex databases and business critical
designs, using database technologies -- Oracle, Postgres, NoSQL,
and Snowflake. Performs application database administration using
Oracle services -- SQL code review, performance analysis, query
tuning, database application design, physical data modeling,
development support, and engineering. Assesses readiness of new
system for conversion, including routine procedures, system
administration, recovery and restart scenarios, error procedures,
distribution of software releases, distribution of data, and
network management. Provides database support in all phases of the
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Primary Responsibilities: Monitors databases servers and responds to alerts. Participates in 24x7 on call rotation for production support,
database maintenance, housekeeping, and installations. Diagnoses problem areas and creates solutions and
workarounds. Establishes database standards for operations, upgrades, and
migrations, and on-boards new applications and clients. Writes clear, concise, well-coordinated technical documentation
to maintain standards and procedures. Automates recoverability for non-highly available databases. Provides expertise to define complex database and data
warehousing methodologies. Ensures capacity management and performance tuning of an
assigned database. Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope. Implements complex and/or business critical changes. Identifies users and situations that may be hazardous to the
system/network. Defines security requirements and operational procedures to
ensure compliance with security framework. Identifies environment (operational or application)
modifications to improve security. Diagnoses and troubleshoots storage problems. Assesses and communicates the impact of changes to existing
systems. Monitors and reports on the progress of change implementation
efforts. Modifies existing databases and database management systems or
collaborates with programmers and analysts to make changes. Develops methods for seamlessly integrating products together
including customizing commercial databases to fit specific
needs. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer
Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems,
Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3)
years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years of
experience performing Oracle Database administration in a mission
critical database production support environment, using Oracle RAC,
Goldengate, and Oracle Datagaurd. Or, alternatively, Masters degree (or foreign education
equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information
Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely
related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or
one (1) year of experience performing Oracle Database
administration in a mission critical database production support
environment, using Oracle RAC, Goldengate, and Oracle
Datagaurd. Skills and Knowledge: Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise (DE) performing Oracle RAC database
administration across AIX, Solaris, Linux, and Windows platforms,
using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle SQL *Developer,
Oracle SQL*Plus, Oracle AWR, and Database Configuration Assistant
(DBCA). DE developing, installing, and managing Oracle replication
technologies -- Oracle GoldenGate (Active-Active and
Active-Passive) and Oracle Data Guard. DE performing SQL performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO),
using Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid control (OEM) and Linux shell
scripting; writing database monitoring jobs in PL/SQL; and
collaborating with enterprise infrastructure teams to diagnose
end-to-end database technology stack performance issues, using
Oracle AWR (Automatic Work Repository), Oracle Active Session
History (ASH), Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor (ADDM), and
SQL monitor reports. DE performing database architecture -- designing relational
database physical data models, performing capacity planning,
indexing, partitioning, archiving, and compression, and designing
and implementing enhanced database monitoring and alerting
solutions, using Linux shell scripting, Oracle PL/SQL programs, and
