DescriptionESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: As the face of the clinical, ensure patients, visitors, and guests presenting in person and over the telephone are greeted promptly and courteously; communicate with patients in their preferred language, using interpretive services as necessaryManage the patient registration and check-out process, including ensuring demographics and insurance eligibility are verified and prior authorizations are completed and entered correctly in the electronic health recordSupport clinical operations by assisting with patient flow, coordinating the scheduling of walk-ins and same-day appointments, and responding to changes in provider availabilityCommunicate with clinical staff regarding changes in schedules, cancellations, and delaysManage routine customer issues with appropriate demeanor and decorum; elevate sensitive service recovery issues to the practice manager or other department manager as necessaryMonitor the patient waiting area and communicate with patients as necessary regarding unexpected delays, inform security of safety issues, and alert clinical staff of potential problems using emergency codes as necessaryComplete outbound calls to patients as necessary to confirm appointments or bring patients into careCommunicate with patients in a professional manner regarding outstanding balances and routine billing questionsReceive patient payments and keep an accurate record of all financial transactionsPrepare the daily batch collection, reconcile receipts, including cash, check, and bank card transactions, and ensure accuracy and timeliness of deposits in accordance with cash handling policies and proceduresAs necessary, monitor and manage incoming volume in the call center software, ensuring calls are distributed evenly and answered timelyHandle incoming and outgoing communications and correspondence, ensuring voicemail, mail and other documents are routed correctlyRun reports in the electronic health record as required or requested to meet operational needsAssist the Practice Manager in maintaining an adequate level of office and other supplies; replenish paper forms as necessaryAs required or directed, and consistent with training, observe the collection of specimens for laboratory analysisPerform all duties in accordance with CHS Core Values, Compliance Program, and other policies and proceduresParticipate in quality and process improvement efforts in the department and the organization as requested or as directedComplete training and professional development requirements in a timely mannerKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIESMinimum educational qualifications required:High school diploma or equivalentOne (1) year of experience in a medical setting or healthcare insurance organization OR two (2) years of experience in a customer service OR a diploma or certificate in a clinical training program such as a medical, dental, or certified nursing assisting programProficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and OutlookPreferred knowledge/experience required beyond minimum qualification:Associates degreeDiploma or certificate in healthcare administrationExperience working in a medical, dental or behavioral healthExperience working with socioeconomically diverse, multiethnic populationsWritten and oral proficiency in SpanishWritten and oral proficiency in a language other than EnglishKnowledge of medical terminologyOther key factors:Comfort with using multi-line telephone systemsAbility to work independently or with minimal supervisionAbility to maintain a high level of confidentialityAbility to maintain focus, objectivity and professionalism in stressful situationsDemonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times, including a professional appearanceAbility to work in a fast-paced work environment with competing and/or changing prioritiesAbility to remain alert and attend to detailsMust be able to travel to various work-site locations on demandClear and effective oral and written communicationRequires working in a collaborative, team-based environmentAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients, employees and the publicOther information impacting scope and complexity of position Noneby Jobble
