SUMMARY The Neuro-Oncologist will be responsible for enhancing interdisciplinary care within Hematology and Oncology while ensuring a quality, evidence-based, multi-disciplinary continuous care for patients. This role is a highly collaborative one and will involve interacting with a multi/interdisciplinary team, including other oncologists, nurses, advanced practitioners, radiation oncologists and neurosurgeons. The Neuro-Oncologist will also participate in general hematology and oncology care, including as part of rotations as the Inpatient Attending, and also with periodic clinic coverage. This position will engage in the training of residents and fellows along with performing research related responsibilities to include scholarly work through peer-reviewed publications, meeting presentations and clinical trial participation. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES * Diagnoses and treats patients with brain tumors and other types of tumors of the nervous system.* Conducts thorough medical histories and performs complete physical examinations.* Initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data on new and former clinic patients and hospital admissions to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.* Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients/family members regarding the disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects and hazards.* Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.* Participates in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds. * Provide education to student, residents and fellows.* Conduct innovative clinical and/or basic science research.* Guide the direction and management of program overall. * Faculty appointment at UCONN. * MD or DO requiredMinimum of 1 year of Neuro Oncology Fellowship Training, or 5 years of Neuro Oncology experience.
