Description:Candidate will be hired at level commensurate with
experience and educationThe Immunology & Respiratory Diseases
department is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Scientist
II/III to join our Ridgefield, CT Disease positioning group. The
successful candidate will be responsible for developing,
optimizing, evaluating and validating a variety of cell culture
systems using primary human disease relevant cells and state of the
art technology combined with relevant inflammatory and fibrotic
stimuli. Experimental strategies, approaches and read outs will
include\: proteomics, transcriptional profiling and flow cytometry.

Responsibilities\:
- Design and implementation of in vitro functional cell culture
assays using primary cells.
- Isolation and culture of human primary cells from blood and
tissue.
- Utilize multi-color flow cytometry approaches to assess
cellular subsets from blood and tissue.
- Work with members of the lab to develop and optimize co-culture
assays to enhance our understanding of cellular cross talk in the
gut and lung to refine our understanding of novel drug targets in
disease.
- Interface and work closely with colleagues in the translational
medicine biomarker group to transfer qualified assays to allow "fit
for purpose" development and implementation into early to mid-stage
clinical trials.
- Develop an understanding of R&D team goals and work
effectively towards achieving them.
- Independently prepare and communicate technical reports,
publications, and oral presentations.
- Deliver updates to project teams and department management in
context of overall project goals.
- Implement new technologies, keep abreast of relevant
literature, attend scientific meetings and develop visibility
outside of functional area. Build cross-functional relationships
that help drive projects.
- Comply with all applicable regulations, performing all work in
a safe manner; maintain proper records and scientific notebooks in
accordance with SOPs and policies.
- Initiates and completes routine procedures in an independent
and efficient manner; Troubleshoots effectively and solves
scientific problems independently; Operates lab equipment and is
independently responsible for maintenance.
- Effectively communicates and defends own work in the context of
team and department goals both orally and in writing.
- Reports and treats data with a high level of critical thinking,
integrity and ethics.Scientist III Requirements\:
- Master's Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus
(3+) years of experience in related scientific discipline, OR
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with seven-plus
(7+) years of experience in related scientific discipline or
equivalent experience in related fieldScientist II Requirements\:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with
three-plus (3+) years of experience in related scientific
discipline or Master's Degree from an accredited institution in
related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related
fieldKnowledge, Skills, Experience needed for both levels\:
- Proven experience and knowledge of human cell isolation and
culture including downstream functional readouts
- Experience in ELISAs, flow cytometry is required. Basic
knowledge of RNA isolation methods and analysis is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot assays and interpret complex data in an
independent fashion
- Excellent agility to take on multiple tasks and effective time
management skills
- Possess strong written and oral communications skills and
ability to prepare and present data to project teams and research
management as required
- Experience in working in a matrix environment and supporting
multiple projects at same time
- Ability to provide training and guidance to laboratory
