Overview: The Assistant Nurse Manager for the Centralized
Monitoring Unit (CMU) is a key leadership role responsible for
supervising a team of healthcare professionals dedicated to
providing continuous ECG telemetry and hemodynamic monitoring for
nearly 300 patients across the hospital. This role is crucial for
ensuring the efficient operation of the CMU, which plays a vital
part in patient safety and quality of care by providing real-time
monitoring and rapid response to critical cardiac events.Key
Responsibilities:Operational Leadership: Supervise and oversee the
daily operations of the CMU, ensuring that the team delivers safe,
high-quality, cost-effective monitoring services that align with
Hartford Hospital values and CMU departmental goals.Staff
Supervision and Development: Along with the CMU Nurse Manager,
oversee the work of Central Monitor Technicians (CMTs) and Clinical
Nurse Leaders, ensuring that all shifts are adequately staffed and
that team members are effectively supported in their roles. Provide
coaching, development opportunities, and performance evaluations to
enable staff to excel in their duties.Real-Time Problem Solving:
Quickly identify and resolve operational issues within the CMU,
including processing problems and technical challenges, to maintain
uninterrupted monitoring services and patient safety.Quality and
Process Improvement: Lean Management Champion- Continuously strive
to enhance the quality and productivity of the CMU by identifying
opportunities for improvement, recommending changes, and leading
the implementation of evidence-based best practices related to
cardiac monitoring.Data-Driven Management: Collect and analyze data
related to monitoring performance and patient outcomes. Track
progress towards departmental goals, practice informed
decision-making, and adjust strategies as necessary.Goal Execution:
Implement and monitor departmental goals and objectives established
by the CMU Director and Nurse Manager. This involves analyzing the
needs of the CMU, developing recommendations, and leading
initiatives to enhance unit performance and patient
outcomes.Performance Expectations: In conjunction with the Nurse
Manager, communicate clear, measurable performance expectations for
all CMU staff, providing regular feedback and in the moment
coaching to help them achieve individual and team objectives.Team
Collaboration: Work closely with the Nurse Manager and the rest of
the CMU leadership team to ensure seamless communication and
collaboration across the unit, fostering a cohesive and supportive
work environment.Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursingo
Existing incumbents as of March 1, 2024 must obtain BSN within 3
years of this date, Master's degree preferred. 2 years of acute
care nursing experience required. At least one year of supervisory
experience preferred. CT Registered Nurse License Certified in
Basic Life Support (BLS) provider credentialed form the American
Heart Association (AHA) Other certifications may be required by
