Job Description:

Family Service League (FSL) seeks a dedicated Counselor to join our team on Long Island, helping to support individuals and families through various challenges. This role is vital in providing professional mental health counseling, homelessness prevention, and educational support in line with FSL's commitment to improving community well-being. The ideal candidate will offer compassionate, effective counseling, engage in crisis intervention, and contribute to program development. Provide direct mental health counseling to individuals and groups. Assess client needs and develop personalized treatment plans. Participate in community outreach and education initiatives. Collaborate with other social service professionals to coordinate client care. Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with legal and professional standards. Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to handle high-stress situations Experience in crisis intervention Knowledge of community resources and services Competency in case management software and client record keeping Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or equivalent state certification. Certification in trauma-informed care preferred.
