Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Cardiology - Discipline: Nurse Practitioner - Start Date: 04/06/2026 - Duration: 26 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, days - Employment Type: Local Contract Position Summary: We’re seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a high-performing cardiology and nuclear medicine team in Astoria, Queens. This role provides direct clinical support for cardiac diagnostic testing while collaborating closely with on-site physicians, nurses, and technicians to ensure safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical proficiency in cardiac diagnostics with a patient-focused approach, exercising sound clinical judgment and demonstrating leadership in care coordination, safety, and quality improvement. Key Responsibilities: - Perform and oversee cardiac diagnostic testing, including nuclear stress tests, exercise and pharmacologic stress tests, stress echocardiography, bubble studies, and Definity contrast studies. - Prepare patients for testing, collect medical histories, obtain consent forms, and establish IV access. - Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms via 12-lead ECG during stress testing; apply ACLS protocols when indicated under cardiologist supervision. - Collaborate with attending physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-specific plans of care that maximize quality, access, and efficiency. - Evaluate treatment and care plans for effectiveness, adjusting per clinical standards and protocols. - Order customary laboratory, radiologic, and diagnostic studies within scope and practice guidelines. - Provide education and consultation to nursing and technical staff on cardiac procedures and protocols. - Maintain and monitor crash carts, defibrillators, and testing supplies; ensure all equipment is operational and compliant with safety standards. - Participate in research, quality, and performance-improvement initiatives within the cardiology service line. - Support training and onboarding for new team members. - Travel between nearby cardiology sites as needed to support patient coverage and mobile testing operations. Qualifications: - Current NYS Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license and registration required - Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies - Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required - Prior experience in cardiology, nuclear stress testing, or diagnostic imaging strongly preferred - Proven ability to interpret ECGs, respond to clinical changes, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams - Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills Preferred Experience: - 3 years of experience performing cardiac stress or nuclear testing - Familiarity with evidence-based protocols and clinical research processes - Experience working across multiple practice sites or supporting mobile testing programs Schedule: - Monday through Friday, full-time - Standard daytime hours with occasional flexibility based on physician and patient schedules Why Join: Be part of a dedicated, collaborative cardiology team serving patients throughout Queens.
