Medical Center is looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse. Job
Duties PATIENT CARE Collects data from patient, family or
significant others and records on Initial Data Base form.
Twenty-four hour nursing assessment and provides data to RN for MDS
inclusion. Contributes to the formulation and updating of plan of
care and implements plan of care under the direction of the
Registered Nurse. Gives direct nursing care to assigned patients
(e.g., medications, treatments, dressing changes, resident care,
TPR) according to established standards. Recognizes changes in
patient condition and responds appropriately, notifying charge
nurse as needed. Documents pertinent information regarding
patient's responses and nursing interventions in patient's medical
record. Administers medication according to hospital policies;
understands and monitors age specific data including meds,
lab/diagnostic results, etc. PATIENT CARE RELATED DUTIES Applies
principles of infection control and safety in the performance of
patient care. Communicates effectively with charge nurse and other
member of the health care team regarding patient's needs and/or
changes in condition. Responds appropriately in crisis situation;
able to prioritize. Reports significant unit problems to the charge
nurse. Demonstrates understanding and complies with all regulatory
agencies; ability to assume charge in the absence of an charge
nurse. Patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge
of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages
of the patients served and complies with Bill of Rights.
Participates in patient teaching and nursing research activities
(CQI). Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge,
confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and
helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring,
and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance
expectations Maintains established departmental policies and
procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety,
environmental, and infection control standards. Assesses gaps in
policies and procedures, and create necessary policies and
procedures to fulfill these gaps. Understands and adheres to the
Medical Center’s Code of Conduct. Familiar with the Medical
Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements. OTHER JOB DUTIES
Orients patient and family to new environment; develops rapport
with patients family and/or significant others. Orients LPNs,
Nurses Aides (Certified Nurse Aides) as required. Effectively
utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to job
responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy.
Participates on unit committees and in CQI activities as assigned.
Participates in patient care conferences and in staff development
activities as required. Assists other personnel as needed. Performs
other related duties as required. BASIC COMPETENCIES
Education/Licensure Graduation from an accredited school of
practical nursing or equivalent education as described by the state
education law. Current NJ license Licensed Practical Nurse license.
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
required. IV Certification required Experience Med pass Encore
dressing change Skills Successful completion of Progressive Care
Orientation Program required. Clinical nursing skills appropriate
for an LPN. Good oral and written communication skills. Good
interpersonal skills. Speaks, reads and writes English to the
extent required by the position. JOB SETTING/PHYSICAL DEMANDS All
patient care areas; contact with patients, visitors, staff.
Frequent prolonged standing/walking. Lifts, positions, pushes,
and/or transfers patients. Protective clothing worn: face shield,
gloves, impermeable gown, particulate respirator Salary
commensurate with experience within posted range. BASED ON EXP
$33.22-$39.42 PER HR DIFFERENTIALS EVE $1.60 NIGHT $1.70 WEEKEND
