Job Description:
**Overview**
The Communication and IT Directorate works to ensure that all
audiences, internal and external, understand the Lab's mission and
how our science transforms the world. The convergence of
Communications and Information Technology at PNNL recognizes that
as the world moves increasingly online, the laboratory must be
increasingly savvy in how we engage our stakeholders and audiences
through digital channels.
**Responsibilities**
PNNL is looking for web analyst and administrator who is passionate
about transforming websites, building external audiences, and
culling insights from data to drive change. This new member of our
digital team will join a mission-driven organization taking on the
world's greatest challenges in sustainable energy and national
security.
In this role, you will be integral in shaping and executing on
PNNL's digital strategy and overarching communications strategy.
You will have the keys to, and be responsible for, managing and
maintaining pnnl.gov, designing and implementing architecture
changes, and assuring ambitious engagement goals are met.
Working directly with our news and media director, you will play a
part in formulating channel strategy, analyzing and visualizing
data, implementing audience growth strategies, and leveraging best
practices in UI/UX.
As a leader and a listener, you will take a challenging business
question and work cross-functionally to develop a hypothesis and
path to drive the needed change.
You will work collaboratively with subject matter experts,
managers, and peers to consistently deliver high-quality work under
time constraints and despite competing priorities. You will
demonstrate expertise in telling compelling digital stories, with a
strong command for what engages audiences. Attention to detail, the
ability to remain nimble and opportunistic in a fast-paced
environment, and excellent organization skills are critical.

trends in online design, audience engagement, and web optimization.

**Authority/Accountability**
+ Oversee strategic and technical aspects of a pnnl.gov and other
digital properties
+ Analyze data on web activity and traffic patterns; recommend and
implement changes in strategy, structure, or both to improve
audience impacts
+ Test, measure, track, and analyze site performance and experience
with the goal of continually improving the site's usability and
visibility
+ Assure that all web and digital properties support each other and
that web properties are optimized for mobile
+ Fulfill superuser role for the content management system (CMS),
managing user permissions and other technical properties
+ Establish web processes and workflow, providing guidance and
training for site contributors
+ Work with the creative director to maintain brand consistency
+ Support team members and communications colleagues by producing
web performance reports
+ Coordinate with IT and with third-party vendors for feature
development and ongoing CMS support
+ Assure the site complies with WCAG standards and other
requirements
+ Maintain competence with the latest site and web trends to ensure
PNNL web and digital properties are operating at peak performance
and delivering the highest possible impact to the organization
+ Be an innovative, proactive thinker and an advisor to the
business for digital marketing, development, and use of expanded
web and digital technologies; coordinate the use of these new
technologies across PNNL
+ Manage ongoing SEO efforts
+ Manage and facilitate Drupal training
+ Partner closely with the news and media team to help us best tell
and amplify our stories to our targeted audiences
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
+ Demonstrated experience supporting a multi-tiered corporate
website, HTML/CSS, CMS systems, and mobile integration and
optimization
+ Experience implementing enterprise-level SEO strategies and
fluency in ahrefs
+ Familiarity with Google Analytics and other web analytics tools
and platforms
+ Experience producing accurate and detailed work on multiple
projects under time pressure
+ Experience in progressive web development and digital roles
+ Familiarity with project management principles; fluency in
managing timelines, dependencies, deliverables, milestones, and
resource allocation
+ Highly skilled in research techniques, analysis, critical
thinking, problem solving, and making solid business decisions
+ Familiarity with data-visualization tools (e.g., Tableau and
PowerBI)
+ Knowledge of statistical methods and applications (e.g., A/B
testing, probability, and regression)
+ Demonstrated experience implementing new strategies and
leveraging evolving industry trends
+ A natural influencer with an intentional focus on collaboration,
customer service, and problem solving
+ Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, professional,
and dynamic environment
**Qualifications**
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience
+ Advanced degree plus 2 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent education and
7 years of experience in progressive web development or digital
roles, OR an advanced degree plus 4 years of experience in a large
organization
