it.Compensation OverviewThe annual base salary range provided for
this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad
range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual
salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors,
including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the
skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the
candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our
comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also
eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.Salary
Range$113,900.00 - $188,000.00Target Openings1What Is the
Opportunity?Travelers is looking for new talent to join and lead
our Data Engineering team. Your objective is to help capitalize on
our deep portfolio of data to help drive business insights and
operations, guiding both growth and transformation of our analytics
landscape. This highly collaborative team is responsible for
exploring and implementing solutions and pipelines that visualize,
contextualize, and publicize data for easy access by the entire
enterprise. The core objective of the role will capitalize on your
proven experience with AWS cloud migration to support the
organization's cloud strategy. Daily activities include designing,
building and deploying data solutions to capture, explore,
transform, and utilize data, by leveraging Qlik, AWS, Python, SQL,
and other analytics tools. Focus will be placed on user experience,
automation, sustainability, reliability, and agility.Work
arrangement is based on location.What Will You Do?
- Provide technical leadership to a scrum team of a Data
Engineers that support multiple business units
- Help define and maintain the architectural runway for the team
and circle/train based on technology needs of both the team and
broader strategic efforts
- Encourage and empower team innovation to identify and apply new
and different solutions to the team's portfolio of assets,
utilizing a test & learn mindset throughout
- Provide solution engineering for new business capabilities,
designing for sustainability, reliability, and agility; apply core
data management competencies including data governance, data
security, and data quality
- Perform data and system analysis, assessment & resolution for
defects & incidents of high complexity; drive root cause resolution
as appropriate
- Deliver quality through deliberate focus on testability and
test automationWhat Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM related field or equivalent
- Eight years of related experience
- Highly proficient use of tools, techniques, and manipulation
including Cloud platforms, programming languages, and a full
understanding of modern software engineering practices.
- The ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace to
achieve commitments, deliver complete solutions but release them in
small batches, and identify and negotiate important tradeoffs.
- Strong problem solver who ensures systems are built with
longevity and creates innovate ways to resolve issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability
to work collaborate well with team members and business partners

Actions, branch management)
- Data Analytics Platforms (specifically Qlik)
- Development & maintenance of best practices, operational
workflows, and other team references
- Lean / Agile methodologies
- Demonstrated experience with:
- CI/CD Pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, ArgoCD, UCD, Liquibase)
- Process automation (e.g. AutoSys, Airflow, EventBridge, Lambda,
SNS/SQS)
- Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation,
horizontal scaling)
- Data governance, data security, and data quality
- Familiarity with:
- Batch vs. Realtime data processing solutions
- DevSecOpsWhat is a Must Have?
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training with data tools,
techniques, and manipulation.
- Four years of data engineering or equivalent experience.What Is
