Motions Staff Attorney Appellate Court State of Connecticut
Judicial Branch Hartford The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch
is seeking a Motions Staff Attorney for the Appellate Court. The
preferred candidate should have excellent research, writing and
communication skills. Prior appellate experience is desirable. This
position is 40 hours per week and will be located at 75 Elm Street,
Hartford. Salary Range: $77,405 - $144,865/year plus State of
Connecticut benefits . New employees begin at the minimum. The
starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the
minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy. The
State of Connecticut Judicial Branch offers its employees a top

policies and long and short term disability. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Prepares memoranda to the Appellate Court on complex motions;
reviews files for jurisdictional and procedural defects; presents
some motions to one judge either orally or in writing; may assist
the Supervising Motions Staff Attorney in assigning motions; may
attend court conferences or hearings in the supervisor s absence;
handles expedited or emergency motions; may review motions
memoranda; writes motions opinions; reviews appellate court rules
and assists the court with procedural and jurisdictional issues in
appeals; researches and analyzes legal questions and issues;
prepares reports and correspondence; performs special projects as
assigned; performs related duties as required. EXPERIENCE AND
TRAINING: Membership in the Connecticut Bar; previous experience
with Appellate Court motions practice or legal research in superior
