Our Business Information Solutions team is seeking a high energy, self-motivated analyst to join a talented team driving the requirements and delivery of a new analytics tool – ART – providing an intuitive and simple user experience allowing users to engage directly and visually with data. It unlocks access to powerful insights that allows us to reinvent how we serve customers.

Business Information Solutions (BIS) is a key component of the Plan Sponsor Insights team focused on helping employers in the group Commercial and Medicare markets develop insights based on data and recommendations to improve plan performance.

Working with the Directors of Information Solutions and Data Solutions, the successful candidate will support the development of employer-facing analytic content and reporting.

Fundamental Components

Responsible for challenging projects involving multiple resources and tasks, providing individual mentoring in support of company objectives; understands and probes into data discrepancies and technical details. Develops project plans and timelines.

Defines and delivers analytical solutions in support of healthcare business initiatives that drive short and long-term objectives. Collaborates with business partners in the design and execution of information\data solutions to answer business and research questions.

Responsible for the successful translation of business needs into documentation used by technical teams to build analytic solutions, interacting directly with internal clients and colleagues.

Creates and evaluates the data needs of assigned projects and assures the integrity of the data. Responsible for the successful creation of the data plan to support reconciliation and the use of that data to support validation of developed content.

Performs research and custom analysis of integrated healthcare data, interprets results, and makes recommendations based on analytic findings to drive business solutions.

Stays informed about industry trends, research findings and evaluation methods. Makes recommendations about data collection methods, metrics definition and evaluation methods.

Develops and participates in presentations and consultations to business partners on information services, capabilities and performance results.

Assists in team leadership and mentoring and may perform management functions in the absence of Management.

Background Experience

7 or more years of health research, customer reporting, and experience working with health care data, metrics, systems and standards is required

5+ years of experience with analytic programming tools and data manipulation methods (SAS, SQL, OLAP, Business Objects, Crystal); required

Understanding of data systems and business intelligence application development; required

Ability to communicate technical ideas and results to non-technical clients in written and verbal form; required

Proficient with Excel, Access, Word and/or PowerPoint; required

Strong problem solving, analytical, critical thinking and project management skills

Ability to work effectively with all levels of management

Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple projects concurrently

Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Social Science, Healthcare or related discipline preferred; or equivalent experience.

Additional Job Information

Eligible for telework opportunity if within driving distance (1 hour, desired) from an Aetna office ideally in Hartford, Blue Bell, Atlanta, or Chicago with the expectation to come into the Aetna office as needed for team meetings, trainings, working sessions.
