The Medical Administrative Associate is responsible for full
range of administrative support in a medical office setting
providing duties from scheduling appointments, calling pharmacies,
billing patients and verifying precertification’s to triaging phone
calls from patients, physicians and insurance companies, while
maintaining patient and business confidentiality to ensure that the
needs of patient are met. Responsibilities include but, are not
limited to the following:
•Verifying Chemotherapy treatment appointments requiring
pre-authorizations from insurers have been appropriately
•Work collaboratively with schedulers, technologists,
supervisors, Admitting and Patient Accounts staff, Nurses,
Pharmacy, referring physician’s offices and insurance company
representatives to aid reimbursement for Chemotherapy
•Follow up on any questions from Patient Accounts regarding
pre-authorization and responds in a timely manner with the
appropriate information to support reimbursement. As well as
investigates and rectify any denials that may come through.
•Cross-training to verify that Radiology exams requiring
pre-authorization from insurers have been appropriately
•High School Diploma required.
•Medical Administrative Assistant certification preferred.
•One to two years’ experience in a medical office setting
•Knowledge of medical terminology required.
•Knowledge of medical coding preferred i.e.: CPT and ICD9
•Excellent communication skills.
