The Emergency Department at Hartford Hospital is responsible for
treating a wide variety of patients, from basic ailments to the
most complex traumas, at our Level-I Trauma Center. This unit has
some the highest acuity in the region, requiring our nurses to
think and act quickly to meet the varying needs of our patients.
Comprised of 109 beds, the unit is subdivided into different pods,
including the Purple Pod for Behavioral Health patients and Red Pod
for the most severe cases. We are also a primary stroke and cardiac
center. Successful healthcare providers on this unit are highly
skilled, agile and resilient; with the ability to work together to
make sure we have a safe environment and provide the highest level
of satisfaction to our staff and patients.
Provides holistic, quality and cost-effective nursing care for
patients/families and/or others for a patient population within a
unit, service or other primary area of practice with an awareness
of the episode of care. Applies the nursing process within the
context of the organization's Framework for Professional Practice.
Functions as clinically competent. Delegates and supervises work
appropriately. Reports to Unit Manager.
Current Connecticut RN License.
Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).
BLS certification by the American Heart Association and proof of
Arrhythmia Certification required prior to date of hire.
Previous Acute Care RN experience preferred, however new grad
BSNs will be considered
