Community Housing Advocates An Affiliate of Mercy Housing & Shelter Corp. and My Sisters' Place Job Title: Triage Intake Monitor (TEMPORARY/SEASONAL)Department: Diversion CenterReports to: Shelter Diversion DirectorFLSA Status: Non-Exempt Scheduled Work Times/Locations Part Time: Monday - Thursday, 6:00PM - Midnight; flexibility when necessaryPart Time: Friday - Sunday, 6:00PM - Midnight; flexibility when necessary 118 Main St., Hartford, CT Job Summary:The primary function of the Triage Intake Monitor is to complete nightly intakes, monitor and maintain the safety of the families in need of temporary shelter during cold weather season. This position is classified as ESSENTIAL. Therefore, the employee must report for work when scheduled, regardless of weather or other conditions that affect travel, and remain on duty until relieved by the supervisor or person scheduled for the next shift. Monitors must remain on the premises during their shift unless authorized to leave. Duties/Responsibilities:Complete intake assessments with families nightly, review rules and regulations with each guest.Assign rooms and arrange nighttime meal service.Monitor triage area and ensure a safe environment for nightly guests.Assist residents within limits in processing issues and problem-solving. Demonstrate ability to deescalate situations and maintain control of the group.Check for contraband in facility through general observation, room or package/purse searches per the search, contraband, and weapons protocols.Attend staff meetings and trainings as directed.Follow appropriate critical incident protocol and accompanying documentation.Maintain a comprehensive and accurate written record of events that occur during shifts, as well as thorough incident reports.Enter information into HMIS database as required.Assure to go meals are prepared for breakfast.Email first shift diversion specialist and supervisor of roster and any incidents.Perform other duties assigned.Perform other assigned duties to serve the needs of 118 Main St. if there are no families in need of triage space on any given night.Required Skills/Abilities: Self-starter, able to work and make decisions independently.Strong ability to set boundaries with clientsAbility to lift boxes and other materials up to 20 pounds. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with diverse clientele.Excellent computer skills.Attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow through required, exceptional problem-solving capabilities.Ability to work collaboratively with other personnel and/or service providers or professionals.Comfortable working with homeless individuals. Education and Experience:High School Diploma degree plus 3 years' experience in a human service and/or nonprofit.Experience with homeless persons, persons with mental illness and/or those with substance use disorders.Trained in Mandated Reporting. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.Licenses and Certifications Must have valid Connecticut driver's license and clean driving record with proof of automobile insurance.
