Job Description:

High-quality treatment for children in the Greater Hartford area facing psychiatric, behavioral and emotional challenges is provided through the Enhanced Care Clinic in several Hartford schools and throughout the community. Clinicians help children and youth ages 3 to 20 and their parents/family members to identify behavioral health challenges and recognize and build on their strengths to increase emotional and behavioral functioning. Counseling promotes personal growth and development among parents and their children by helping them cope with psychosocial problems including parenting, behavioral problems, family conflict, sexual abuse, victim trauma and substance abuse. Treatment is culturally-competent, time-sensitive, solution-focused and community-centered. The approach is holistic. JOB SUMMARY Renders diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services to children, adolescents and families; Participates in Quality Assurance and Utilization Review for assigned cases; Assists in implementing programmatic and agency priorities within the ECC and Permanency programs Provides clinic based services to children and families who have demonstrated (or are at risk for) low engagement in outpatient clinical services within traditional clinic settings. Services provided include individual and family therapy, parenting skills training, crisis management as needed and case management. Skills utilized include of a range of engagement skills with difficult-to-engage child and family clients as well as family advocacy and family therapy. Services provided are in collaboration with DCF, schools, and other community based providers as needed. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provides direct services to children and their families which may include:

  • Assessment and engagement
  • Provide DSM IV Diagnosis in consultation with Supervisor and Medical Director or designated Psychiatrist
  • Formulation and contracting for services or treatment plan
  • Implementation of treatment plan, modifying it as appropriate during the course of treatment
  • Discharge planning which may include linkages to community support services
  • Case management services
  • Clinical documentation required by agency and program policies, HIPAA regulations, and funding sources.--
  • Maintain productivity targets determined by service.--
  • Provision of service in the office, school, or other identified setting to meet the unique needs of families served.--
  • Maintains productivity targets. Licensed Clinician II sustains higher productivity expectations.
  • Participates in Peer Consultation and Quality Assurance Reviews
  • Works as a team member with other clinical and administrative staff to respond to client and programmatic needs, including the implementation of agency policies, procedures, and initiatives.--
  • Partners with Supervisor to identify and develop plans for professional growth.
  • With Supervisor's approval, partners with other program or clinical staff to identify and develop approaches to address clients' unmet needs or service gaps.
  • Contributes to program functioning by assuming responsibility for special tasks or leadership in special projects as appropriate.
  • Contributes to agency organizational life by participating in agency wide task forces, committees or problem solving teams as appropriate.
  • Contributes to agency visibility and development of community linkages by representing the Village in community groups or committees.
  • Acquiring and maintaining the needed skills in evidenced based models that the agency / program ascribe to.--
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Experience and Skills: EDUCATION
    • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or other licensed counseling degree.
    • State of CT license requires (i.e. LCSW, LPC, LMFT)
    • Minimum of 2+ years of experience post graduate in an outpatient setting.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload consistantly, Senior Clinicians provide higher service hours.
    • Bilingual/bicultural skills preferred.
    • Cultural competency to serve a diverse population.
    • Strong diagnostic, assessment and treatment skills for individual, family and group therapy.
    • Extensive experience working with culturally diverse urban populations, a wide age range, and a variety of clinical presentations.
    • Knowledge of mental health, child welfare systems, and community resources.
    • Good organizational and communication skills.--
    • Ability to function autonomously in day-to-day responsibilities; yet, seek consultation appropriately when needed.--
    • Proficiency with word processing and general computer skills.
    • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations. These responsibilities include but are not limited to, the ability to function safely in a therapeutic situation, including provision of services in client homes or host settings.
