Assistant Director of Digital Marketing
The Assistant Director of Digital Marketing manages and owns the strategy and deployment of email communications that deploy from Commercial lines at The Hartford. This position also directly manages our paid search vendor and is accountable for the paid search budget and goals supporting Small Commercial's direct program. Will be accountable for strategy, analytics, building strong partnerships and need to have strong attention to detail for flawless cross-channel execution. Key elements of the job are as follows:
Paid Search: Manage our Paid Search Agency, serving as the link between our Lines of Business and the agency. Develop aggressive testing plans, recommend optimizations, and conduct in-depth competitive intelligence. Ensure critical KPI's are met through daily monitoring of performance in platforms and suggesting campaign improvements. Email Marketing: Collaborate with line of business, coder/designers, mar/tech team and deliverability experts to develop thoughtful email campaign approaches. Recommend A/B or multivariate testing to improve engagement and measure impact from open rates to down funnel action. Deploy timely emails/journeys that meet the standard of the email center of excellence. Strategy and Campaign Support: Position yourself as an expert in digital marketing. Provide actionable strategies that positively impact The Hartford and support overall business goals. Involve the social team when executing cross-channel opportunities. Present solutions that address business needs and ensure quality meets or exceeds business expectations. Relationship Building: Establish strong, professional relationships within each of the businesses, which will have a direct reflection on how the Digital Marketing Team is viewed across the Enterprise. Communicate frequently and effectively with the business. Make suggestions and offer support to help the business. Within the Digital Marketing Team, provide guidance to the specialists and offer advice when appropriate. Presentation of Results: Present campaign performance to the line of business that directly inform decisions, next steps and additional actions. Utilize analytics, competitive resources and more to derive impactful insights and clearly communicate findings to leaders.
Technical and Functional Skills:
Expert with Microsoft Advertising, Google Ads, and paid search principals Email strategy and execution is a must Working knowledge of HTML, email coding and design Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word Strong knowledge of Google Analytics, Tableau, email platforms, (salesforce marketing cloud a +) MovableInk and email on acid
Team Player: communicate effectively & professionally while building strong partnerships across the organization Grit: tenacity to overcome marketing challenges and work under pressure with tight timelines Leadership: ability to step into a leadership role Innovative: take risks, test concepts and continue to challenge the status quo Analytical: dig into metrics in various platforms to identify trends and opportunities
Background / Education
4-6 years' experience working within digital marketing, with a focus on email and paid search, at a strategic level. Google Ads & Microsoft Advertising certified is a critical Google Analytics experience Sales Force Marketing Cloud or similar Top Tiered Email Service Provider experience
