Job DescriptionABOUT IICAPSIntensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services help decrease the amount of time children spend in inpatient hospitals and residential facilities due to psychiatric and behavioral challenges.IICAPS works with families and children to provide the skills and resources necessary to allow the child to stabilize at home. The team works in partnership with the family, collaboratively developing and implementing treatment goals to best suit the needs of the family.IICAPS provides individual sessions with the child, the parents) and the family. Extensive case management services are also provided to help manage ongoing environmental stressors.The program serves children who are unable to be discharged safely from institutional treatment due to a lack of home and/or community resources, children at risk for psychiatric institutional-based treatment, or children who have been unresponsive to clinic-based services. The program is voluntary and requires consent from parents.ABOUT THE VILLAGEThe Village was one of the first agencies in the country to provide homes for neglected children. If you'd like to grow your career in a diverse and supportive environment rich with learning opportunities, join us!JOB SUMMARY:Provides intensive home based services to children at risk for psychiatric hospitalization. Services provided include individual and family therapy, parenting skills training, around the clock crisis support, extensive case management, and advocacy. IICAPS operates from a team approach and consists of a Clinician and Mental Health Counselor, both of whom participate in sessions and treatment meetings. Participates in implementation of treatment plan, modifying as appropriate during the course of service. Services provided are in collaboration with DCF, schools, and other community based providers. Team is responsible for attending Rounds and group supervision weekly and maintaining clinical documentation according to licensing, accreditation, Medicaid, and Yale requirements. Purposes of services are to stabilize the child in the home and transition to traditional outpatient services, improve family functioning, and connect the child with the community in a positive way. There is expected consultation and coordination care with Psychiatric providers if appropriate. Must maintain productivity targets determined by Service and remain current on all model training requirements.Experience and SkillsBA in the human services field or BSW required; 3 years experience in a comparable position in a human services agency preferred.Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with children, parents, and school personnelOrganized and able to work independently with minimal supervision.Flexible and able to multi-task.Cultural competency to serve targeted populations. Bilingual skills may be required. Experience working with inner-city children.Commitment to Results/Performance Based Accountability.May be required to maintain valid driver's license and ability to drive or otherwise obtain transportation to provide services throughout the service area.Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet applications. Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows XP environment. Familiarity with specific applications used by the Village a plus.Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations; able to function safely in a therapeutic situations including provision of services in clients homes or host settings; able to travel to various sites throughout greater Hartford.
