Job Description:

Principal Responsibilities: Responsible for protecting hotel assets and guest property. Oversees the safety of guests and co-workers through a process of observation, inspection and inquiry. Immediately reports unsafe conditions to management and monitors corrective action taken, reporting all significant issues to his immediate supervisor.Essential Functions: (This list is not comprehensive, but indicates duties and responsibilities which may be redefined pursuant to operational needs)

  • Provide a deterrent to criminal activity by engaging in a continuous, highly visible foot patrol of the property, while maintaining radio contact with the PBX operator and the MOD.
  • Monitor the property by video surveillance and respond to all suspicious circumstances and safety hazards.
  • Investigate all criminal activity and vehicular accidents occurring on the property, coordinating all activities with local authorities and the MOD. May assist the MOD in investigating injury accidents involving guests and hotel employees.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the hotel's fire suppression system, evacuation procedures and emergency directives. Serve as the hotel's Fire Safety Officer (FSO) during your duty shift and all times be available to assist and advise the MOD during emergent conditions.
  • Monitor employee ingress and egress from the property, inspecting packages and personal property pursuant to the hotel's policy. Monitor compliance with all hotel policies and report those employees who violate policy.
  • Handle lost property in accordance with the hotel's policies.
  • Maintain keys entrusted to you and execute key control procedures for other departments as directed.
  • Greet guests with a friendly and sincere acknowledgement and handle guest inquiries in a cordial, expeditious and efficient manner.
  • Maintain strict personal compliance with all corporate, hotel and department directives. Practice safe work habits and utilize PPE when appropriate.SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONSIn addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

      • Ability to follow all safety procedures and standards and ability to recognize and act in emergency situations.QUALIFYING STANDARDSEducationHigh School graduate or equivalent preferred, but not required.Experience6 months to 1 year of security experience at the time of employment is preferred.Licenses or CertificatesPossession of a state-issued, PPSO guard card is required at the time of employment. The employee must have no disqualifying criminal convictions that would preclude him from being registered by the BSIS, or otherwise deem him unsuitable for the position (specific standards available).GroomingAll team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).OtherBi-lingual language ability (English/Spanish) preferred.NOTICE: The hospitality business functions seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Avalon rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.
