Reports to: -------- --------Marketing & Membership Manager

Wage Range: -------- $16.00 - $24.50 per hour
Summary

Serving more than 300,000 adults and children each year, the Connecticut Science Center is the state's premier destination for informal science learning, a top tourist attraction, a hub for teacher training, and one of the state's foremost resources for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The Membership Representative assists in all efforts to recruit, retain, and provide exceptional service to thousands of Member households of the Connecticut Science Center.
Working closely with the Membership & Community Outreach Coordinator, this position drives membership revenue and retention by providing excellent customer service, clear communications, and outreach to members. In addition, this team member is a champion of the membership program and building equity by offering opportunities for meaningful STEM experiences to underserved youth.
Key Responsibilities

--- Respond promptly, accurately, and pleasantly to all membership related questions, concerns, and feedback via phone, mail, email, social media, and in person. Answering the phone during office hours is of the utmost importance.

--- May act as an ambassador in the community executing outreach efforts to promote our Access Membership program.

--- Assists in coordination and execution of the membership program, including acquiring new members, promptly fulfilling benefits, and delivering high renewal rates.

--- Work closely with the Membership & Community Outreach Coordinator to ensure full-time coverage of the office, phones, and events.

--- Assist in planning, production and execution of events to help keep members connected to the Science Center, including, but not limited to,-- previews of new exhibits. Provide feedback on weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting and department summaries to Management.

--- Recruit Access members to participate in scholarship programs including STEM in a Box, Camps, and Community Partner programs.

--- Work in a robust and complex Membership database in Tessitura including, but not limited to, insuring record accuracy, eliminating duplicates, reviewing contact information, sorting records.

--- Have a comprehensive understanding of the Membership environment, top issues, and priorities.

--- Support and drive forward all Membership initiatives, as directed.

--- Ensure fulfilment of all of the Membership office needs and provide exceptional, consistent customer service.

--- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications

--- High School diploma or equivalent required.-- College experience preferred.

--- Bi-lingual (written and spoken) in both English and Spanish is a plus, but not required.

--- Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills.

--- A background in customer service or education is highly desirable.

--- Willingness and ability to be flexible with work schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

--- Must have access to reliable transportation

--- Ability to work independently most days.

--- Must have good organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

--- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, on a workstation is required. Familiarity with CRM platforms, such as Tessitura preferred.

--- A strong willingness to support diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion efforts for all

communities to support equitable engagement and access to STEM learning opportunities

--- Ability to work on-site

--- Must provide proof of COVID Vaccination or be approved for a medical or religious exemption
Physical Requirements

--- Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing.

--- Consistently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

--- Moderate to long periods of standing and sitting.

--- Walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, bend,

--- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

--- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
