  • The Aero Thermal Fluids (ATF) organization is responsible for the functional aerodynamic design, analysis and performance of components and modules throughout Pratt & Whitney commercial and military product lines.--
  • The Exhaust Systems Aero group is a part of the ATF organization focused on the aerodynamic design and analysis of high-performance military exhaust systems, including bypass duct and nozzle aerodynamics, augmentor combustion, and exhaust system cooling design.
  • We are seeking motivated individuals with strong technical, problem solving, communication and leadership skills to join our team and be part of continuing Pratt & Whitney's industry leadership in current and next generation military propulsion systems.Responsibilities include:
    • Subject matter expert in one or more areas of advanced military exhaust systems and bypass duct aerodynamics. Lead aero teams, provide technical guidance, drive innovative solutions, implement improved processes and advanced methods, and coordinate across module center, systems organizations and with external partners.
    • Lead Engine Concept Studies, Major System Rigs, Technology Demonstrators, Technology Development Plans, and proposal efforts. Interface with internal customers (CIPT, SIPT, EDSIT, PCEs), and external customers (Weapon System Contractors, govt reps).
    • Technical aspects of the work include, but not limited to: flowpath lofting, aerodynamic performance analysis, secondary flow and heat transfer modeling, bypass duct modeling, exhaust / airframe integration, and performance integration.--
    • Work is full-time on-site at P&W East Hartford campus.Basic Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or related fields
      • 10+ years of aerospace engineering experience, or 7+ years with an advanced degree.
      • US Citizenship required due to government contracts.--
      • An active US DoD security clearance SECRET or higher.Preferred Qualifications:
        • An advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or related field.
        • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and teamwork skills. The ability to communicate effectively with customers and all levels of management. Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality technical solutions in a cross-functional team environment.--
        • Experience in one or more of the following aerodynamic design and analysis functions: nozzle aerodynamics, secondary flow systems, heat transfer analysis, flowpath lofting, CFD analysis, combustion dynamics.
        • Experienced user of one or more of the following tool packages: Fluent, WIND, ACTRAN, PowerFlow, SpaceClaim, Pointwise, ANSYS, Matlab, Dymola, Unigraphics/NX, and network flow solvers.
