FOX61 in Hartford, Connecticut is seeking an innovative, ambitious newsroom leader to transform our daily content. The Executive Producer will work with a team of producers, reporters, anchors, photographers and digital content producers to craft impactful content that is highly engaging and memorable. Are you a visionary who looks beyond the norm and takes risks? Do you drop everything to own the big story and breaking news? Can you coach, train and motivate producers, reporters and anchors alike? Do you showcase weather on both big days and slow days? Do you use newscasts as a vehicle to get eyeballs on your station's digital platforms? If you check all the aforementioned boxes--- we want you on our team! Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the producing and writing of dayside newscasts, including oversight on story selection, content, production and scripts to ensure Expect More brand promise
  • Encourage innovation, risk-taking and powerful storytelling in crafting unique, sharable content on all platforms
  • Contribute to the editorial process and make solid decisions in breaking news situations
  • Skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content
  • Work with in-house and external design departments to help develop graphics which help showcase the big story
  • Help produce newscasts and write stories on an as-needed basis
  • Regularly critique newscasts with the staff, both as a team and with individual producers
  • Inspire enterprise stories and coordinate special coverage with news leadership team
  • Work collaboratively with other managers and perform tasks as required by News Director and Digital Director
  • Rotate as weekend on-call manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned Requirements:
  • 3+ years newsroom leadership experience preferred as an Executive Producer, Assistant News director or News Director
  • Must possess excellent writing skills, possess solid news judgment and ethical decision-making skills
  • Experience successfully leading teams through content transformation
  • Strong news judgment and working knowledge of current events and community issues
  • Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
  • Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, photojournalism, editing, and content management systems a plus
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
