Location/Department: Divisional Headquarters, Advancement
Department (Hartford, CT) Status: Non-exempt, Part-time Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Hours may vary depending on
need. Scope & Purpose of Position: Create and manage a
well-coordinated, strategic development plan to cultivate and
solicit support from corporations and local businesses throughout
Connecticut. Seek to establish long-term partnerships, strengthen
existing relationships, and initiate new contacts within the
corporate sectors. Work cooperatively with Corps Officers, Advisory
Board members, and co-workers. Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive and professional representative of the
Divisional Leaders, the Corps Officers, and of The Salvation Army
at large.
- Work with Corps Officers, Advisory Board members, and committee
members to identify corporate prospects to support specific Corps'
fundraising initiatives and/or social service programs (i.e., the
Red Kettle Campaign, Angel Tree program, radiothons).
- Collaborate with the Divisional Commander and Director of
Advancement to develop and lead the divisional strategy for
cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate
funders.
- Identify sources of funding for, and proactively seek,
opportunities to generate new proposals to meet Corps and
Divisional priorities.
- Open new doors, cultivate, solicit, and steward corporations
and businesses throughout Connecticut.
- Raise new funds, while maintaining existing funding from
corporations.
- Cultivate new and renew existing donors to meet annual
fundraising goals and activity goals, including approximately 6-8
visits, tours, or meaningful interactions per month with corporate
funders and prospects.
- Research Corporate entities and high-potential partnerships
that will help fund program areas and advance the overall work of
The Salvation Army in Connecticut.
- Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies in
collaboration with major gift and planned giving officers who have
donors in their portfolio that are connected to corporations.
- Establish and work with the Director of Advancement to set
annual income goals for the corporate program.
- Record all prospect contacts, actions, proposals, and outcomes
and reports in donor database.
- Organize and maintain proposal and report information using the
donor database and specifically the Opportunities Management
module. Keep donor information up-to-date and strictly
confidential.
- Routinely develop and review library of ask (i.e., proposal
database), program-specific content, and stewardship collateral for
corporate approach.
- Work with the Events & Partnerships Manager and the Volunteer
Coordinator to increase collaborations for Division-wide
events.
- Write fundraising materials, including concept notes and
proposals, project budgets and financial reports, program updates
and narrative reports for corporations.
- Write thank you letters and final reports on how funding was
utilized, as requested. Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with
corporations and/or proven sales experience and success.
- A high level of comfort communicating with Advisory Board
members and corporation representatives face-to-face, in virtual
meetings, over the phone, and through written correspondence.
- Ability to articulate organization's mission to the funding
community.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Capacity to work effectively with varying departments in order
to build consensus and bring proposals/reports to completion.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and advise staff. Must
be able to work independently and as part of a team to reach
fundraising goals. Must be able to work collaboratively with
Advisory Board members, leadership, and Corps Officers to
effectively cultivate donors and prospects.
- Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals as well as meet
deadlines.
- Detail oriented, adaptable, able to meet deadlines, organized,
and demonstrated ability to prioritize and successfully manage
multiple projects and tasks with grace and professionalism.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to
influence and engage a diverse range of constituents and build
long-term relationships.
- Must embrace, support, and reflect well on The Salvation Army's
mission and values.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CRM experience
(Salesforce preferred); knowledgeable about the role technology
plays in fundraising.
- Travel required at times; must have a valid driver's license
with the ability to obtain and maintain driving privileges per The
Salvation Army insurance standards
- Understanding of and ability to explain financial budgets and
reports.
- Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army.
