JOB SUMMARY: The Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining NextGen databases and peripheral programs. Proper documentation and timely communication of ticket/project status'/needs and collaborating with numerous departments to ensure timely resolution as well as building relationships that facilitate member confidence in OSIS and the organization's team members.

Key performance objectives in order of priority are:
1. Develop, maintain and monitor performance of NextGen databases and peripheral programs.
2. Successfully load platform and NextGen related updates/upgrades.
3. Timely completion/escalation of NextGen Tier 3 ticket assignments, resulting in solutions and continuous application support to increase practice efficiency and effectiveness which allows clients to focus and improve patient care

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The responsibilities listed are fundamental to the position and must be performed successfully to achieve the key performance objectives of the role. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Builds and maintains client and internal relationships to drive mutually beneficial solutions and drive positive client experiences; acts as onsite subject matter expert/consultant and OSIS client liaison.
2. Develops/installs NextGen and related peripheral programs.
3. Run updates/upgrades to NextGen and related peripheral programs.
4. Monitors jobs to ensure availability of up to date software for clients.
5. Timely completes medication, formulary and pharmacy updates per schedule
6. Develop and maintain library of Crystal reports, NextGen documents and SQL stored procedures.
7. Responsible for follow-up on assigned projects; participates in Client on-boarding meetings, workflow analysis, project conference calls, NextGen build, remote and onsite training; acts as subject matter expert to clients and other internal teams; evaluates feasibility of client requests.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVOIRNMENT:
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, copy machines and filing cabinets.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This is a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL:
No travel is expected for this position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associates degree or 5+ years' experience in Information Technology
- Experience with SQL Server 2012 and higher.
- Experience using MS SQL Management Studio and SQL Profiler
- Experience performing code reviews and tuning queries, stored procedures, views, etc.
- Experience developing and troubleshooting advanced stored procedures
- Experience performing database capacity planning and providing architecture recommendation
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
- Experience with SQL Failover Clustering

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in Healthcare IT
- Knowledge of most up to date version of NextGen EHR and EPM
- Experience in performance tuning and monitoring using native Microsoft and monitoring tools
- Working knowledge of SSIS and SSRS

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Performing installations and upgrades; managing configurations; and applying maintenance releases and patches

TELECOMMUTING AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position can telecommute on an as needed basis.

  • Upload speed of 5Mbps or higher
