Summary: The purpose of the Operating Room Assistant is to perform service functions that support the delivery of patient care in the Operating Room. These functions include but are not limited to: patient transportation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment and operating rooms, stocking supplies and running errands. Additionally, OR Assistant's perform a surgical scrub and hold retractors during certain procedures. Responsibilities: 1. Transports patients to the Operating Room. 2. Performs room turnovers. 3. Prepares equipment for each procedure. 4. Assists the nurse and physician with patient positioning & lifting. 5. Delivers specimens to the lab, runs errands to pharmacy, medical records, ASU, patient units, etc. 6. Orders X-rays and nourishments daily. 7. Maintains clean and unobstructed hallways & scrub rooms. 8. Operates operating room based sterilization equipment (i.e., steris, autoclaves). 9. Stocks all non-specialty areas including prep carts, scrub rooms, warmers, linen carts, holding area, turnover supplies, PPE storage, etc. 10. Performs a surgical hand scrub, maintains a sterile field & holds retractors on selected surgical procedures. Required: Read and speak conversational English. Minimum Experience: six months Location: Danbury-24 Hospital Ave Work Type: Per Diem Work Shift: The hours are needed Mon-Fri on days or eves shifts.
