Job Description Data Protection Officer, North America ( Job Number: 14001570D20220930 ) DISCOVER your opportunity Hartford, CT; Stamford, CT; Atlanta, GA; Morristown, NJ; New York, NY; USA The North America Data Privacy Officer (N.A. DPO) will play a key role in supporting the AXA XL Division in meeting its obligations under data privacy laws. Reporting to the Divisional Chief Data Privacy Officer (CDPO), the N.A. DPO will be appointed as DPO for USA and Canada. The N.A. DPO will support local compliance and perform all his tasks under the control and in collaboration with the CDPO. In addition, the North American DPO will actively support global data privacy compliance matters in collaboration with CDPO team, notably relative to EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation. DISCOVER your opportunity What will your essential responsibilities include? General The North America DPO performs Local DPO tasks for US and Canada, including:

  • Initial contact person for any local data privacy matter or issue impacting the Companies under the N.A DPO's control.
  • Ensure watch process is in place on US and Canada evolving data privacy regulatory landscape with the support of external legal firms in US and Canada.
  • Lead local compliance projects to meet new or evolving requirements in US and Canada with the support of the first line of defense and under guidance of CDPO.
  • Adapt AXA XL Data Protection framework whenever needed and ensure adoption by Business. Core management responsibilities
    • Provide awareness and consultative advice to the business.
    • Animate the Local Privacy Group including Local Data Privacy Champions, following up execution of local Department Privacy roadmap,.
    • Perform local 2 nd line of defense controls as directed by the CDPO, thus ensuring on a regular basis that projects, templates, data processing applications and processes are compliant with local data privacy legislation and AXA XL Data Privacy Framework.
    • Prepare following CDPO guidance Audits or AXA Group Reviews.
    • Prepare answers to any US / Canada Authority request under CDPO control.
    • Lead local Data Privacy processes (for example answer to individuals demands on their personal data).
    • Support management of any personal data breach if affecting the US and Canada under the control of CDPO.
    • Review for appropriateness any service or business contracts under which personal data processing activities are performed.
    • Perform GDPR specific activity in support to Central team such as 1/ Performance of Transfer Impact Assessments, 2/ Performance of Data Privacy Impact Assessment 3/ Contracts review. You will report to the CDPO and provide regular updates with the CDPO to US and Canada Boards and to US Compliance. We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

The pay range for this position is ($74,000 - $145,500). Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location.
