Salary range: $20-$24/hr Position Summary: The Inclusion Support
Specialist (ISS) participates as a key member of a
multi-disciplinary treatment team in the treatment and/or education
of children with emotional, behavioral and learning disabilities.
In conjunction with the clinical team, she/he develops and
implements individualized behavioral plans for clients to help them
build skills, provides coaching and modeling to staff to ensure
that all supports are followed, provides 1:1 support to clients to
help them stabilize and avoid the need for an inpatient setting,
and track and monitors data on clients' progress to help inform
treatment planning. The Inclusion Support Specialist's goal is to
enhance clients social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
Duties Essential Functions of the Job:
- Follow defined State and YWCA protocols for reporting suspect
child abuse or neglect, to include documentation, notification of
OEC, NAEYC and DCF when applicable;
- Oversee the planning and implementation of age appropriate
Inclusion Support Plans at a site level;
- Maintain the safety of children in all situations through the
use of supervision and the implementation of various therapeutic
techniques, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention;
- Conduct client observations in various settings to gather
information on functioning;
- Collect and analyze data related to clients' functioning to
inform treatment planning;
- Attend and participate in all Inclusion Support Plan meetings
with families, staff and outside agencies, to include proper
documentation;
- Demonstrate techniques that enhance problem solving abilities
and enable growth and maturity;
- Understand and relay relevant information to the team;
- Record and document critical information in a timely
matter;
- Communicate with parents/guardians in a professional and timely
matter;
- Communicate with coworkers in a professional and timely
matter;
- Communicate with external professionals (e.g. Teachers, DCF
Workers) in a professional and timely manner;
- Interact with children in a positive, nurturing, therapeutic
manner;
- Work with the Instructional Leader and Head Teachers to ensure
that all learning plans include individualized supports for
children with challenging behaviors or disabilities;
- Monitor children's progress to ensure activities are meeting
the students educational and developmental needs;
- Ensure staff adherence to YWCA Positive Guidance Policy and the
Atypical Behavior process;
- Oversee the implementation of all Inclusion Support plans and
support families and staff as they work with the child;
- Monitor the consistent application of defined YWCA statements,
policies and procedures;
- Provide accurate and timely performance feedback and coaching
to staff. Identify performance improvement needs and work with Site
Managers to create corrective actions and/or staff development
plans;
- Provide guidance and assistance to staff in the delivery of
high quality programs and services;
- Address and support teachers with professional development
opportunities to include college registration, applying for student
loans and seeking out grant and financial aid opportunities;
- Assist in planning and providing effective staff development
activities;
- Prioritize the needs of teachers and develops credible and
trusting relationships;
- Clearly and effectively communicate information to
teachers;
- Prioritizes needs of staff, children, and families and is
dedicated to meeting their expectations;
- Shares views in a tactful way;
- Demonstrates diplomacy by approaching others about sensitive
issues in non-threatening ways and fosters an environment
conductive to open and transparent communication;
- Attends trainings, seminars, and does research to keep up with
the latest information and best practices within the field;
Requirements Requirements Education
- Bachelor's Degree required; preferably in early behavior
health, psychology, special education or other related field
Experience:
- Two (2) to four (4) years in human service field or child
development preferred
- Two (2) to four (4) years in providing children with with
social and emotional support preferred Certification:
- Certified CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain
certification within two months of employment
- Basic knowledge of the principles of Child Development Skills:
