Qualifications: The Health Information Management (HIM) Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Health Information Management department. This position involves assisting with the organization, maintenance, and protection of client health records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. The HIM Assistant is responsible for clerical tasks, data entry, record retrieval, and supporting the department's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:RECORD MANAGEMENT:
    • Assist with the organization, filing, and storage of client health records, both electronic and paper-based.
    • Retrieve, and deliver health records as requested by healthcare providers, clients, and other authorized personnel and tracks them.
    • Prepare records for scanning and ensure proper indexing and quality control.DATA ENTRY AND MAINTENANCE:
      • Enter client information into electronic health record (EHR) systems accurately and promptly.
      • Update and correct client data as needed, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
      • Management of help desk tickets, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues while identifying and escalating complex or unresolved issues to higher-level technical teams as necessary.COMPLIANCE AND CONFIDENTIALITY:
        • Adhere to HIPAA and other regulations related to the privacy and security of client health information.
        • Assist in processing release of information requests in compliance with legal and organizational policies.CLERICAL SUPPORT:
          • Perform general office duties, including answering phones, responding to emails, and managing correspondence.
          • Support the HIM team with special projects and audits as needed.COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION:
            • Work closely with other HIM staff, healthcare providers, and administrative personnel to support efficient operations.
            • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly and professionally with clients, families, healthcare providers, and staff.
            • Participate in department meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
              • High school diploma or equivalent required. An Associate's degree in Health Information Management or a related field is a plus.
              • Previous experience in a healthcare setting or administrative role preferred.
