When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require, they turn to us.Job SummaryThe Preference Card & Documentation Analyst RN is responsible for maintaining an accurate, efficient, and data driven preference card system across multiple sites, ensuring alignment of patient care needs and resources, and ensuring staff & clinicians are educated on EPIC documentation best practices. They will be Subject Matter Experts in EPIC preference cards and documentation. They will work directly with staff, clinicians, managers, vendors & supply chain personnel to ensure all needed instruments, specialty supplies, implants, tissues etc. are on the preference cards and correct cards selected for scheduled procedures. Responsibilities will include but not limited to preference card system management, case need projections, and process improvement projects within perioperative services. Works closely with clinical leaders, scheduling office, CSS and supply chain. Works as a member of the Perioperative education team to support EPIC training for staff and clinicians. They will use performance improvement methodology to design data collection systems / processes and identify opportunities to improve care / service for patients.DescriptionPreference Card Role

  • Act as the subject matter expert able to create, setup, and train to the standards of preference card management to the organization
  • Possess strong knowledge of the intra-operations of the perioperative environment, including working with supply chain, vendors, Bio Engineering and other like departments to lead maintenance of the preference card system
  • Uphold excellent repertoire with all stakeholders and act as a positive representative of perioperative services
  • Maintain and update preference cards on a regular basis & ensure accuracy at all times
  • Create/delete/modify new cards and groups as requested or needed
  • Ensure naming conventions for cards, equipment, supplies and instruments are upheld
  • Supply Chain, Item Master, and CSS interface for additions/ deletions/ substitutions to cards
  • Analyze and prepare upcoming surgical cases
  • Review each case to ensure correct mnemonics have been assigned and scheduled correctly throughout the system
  • Ensure that the correct cards are assigned to each case
  • Review each case for corrections, special needs and conflict checks
  • Review multiple mnemonic cases for duplicate and/or excessive supplies, instruments and equipment
  • Performance Improvement
  • Collect data and identify opportunities to improve care and service for patients
  • Collect data and identify opportunities for fiscal savings related to supply and equipment inventoriesDocumentation Role
    • Act as the subject matter expert for EPIC Optime documentation best practices
    • Support new hire and refresher EPIC Optime training as needed
    • Identify common documentation errors & deliver both group and 1:1 retraining as needed
    • Liaison with Health System IT related to EPIC upgrades and changes that impact Optime
    • Propose documentation best practices that create an efficient system while capturing high quality patient care to meet regulatory requirementsQualificationsRequired
      • Current CT RN License
      • Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN preferred*)
      • Strong knowledge of OR clinical documentation & Preference Card management in the EPIC Optime system
      • 3-5 years of Perioperative nursing experience
      • Strong PC and analytic skills
      • Strong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred
        • EPIC Credentialed Trainer
        • Project leadership experience
        • Previous analysis experience in an information systems environment
          • Qualified ADN candidates will be considered.
