Job Description:
Direct maintenance functions to assure the plant infrastructure
and equipment are kept in a safe, reliable condition with minimum
unplanned production downtime. Investigate, analyze, plan, design
and direct the execution of a wide variety of engineering and
maintenance solutions to support the safety, quality, and
reliability of the plant buildings and equipment. Define, promote
and manage lean projects in alignment with Business Area and plant
targets. Run capital projects
Main responsibilities
1. Provides short and long term direction and objectives assigned
plant maintenance staff.
2. Analyzes/determines manufacturing needs for equipment, services,
facilities, and provides technical support for manufacturing,
environmental operations, and other groups as needed.
3. Assures all projects and equipment maintenance tasks are
planned, designed and installed/completed in compliance with all
applicable local, state and federal regulations relating to
building codes, health, safety and environment.
4. Implement lean tools within department to improve overall
department efficiency, cost reduction and decrease overall
downtime.
5. Implement system to analyze overall maintenance department's
cost effectiveness verses results
6. Hires, trains, develops and motivates maintenance staff to
achieve maximum productivity through appropriate skills training
and development of staff. Ensures quality work performance at all
levels.
7. Work with local colleges and other industry leaders to develop
curriculum designed to satisfy industry needs
8. Leads the effort with operations and engineering to continually
evaluate the maintenance capital and expense requirements for the
plant.
9. Participates in the planning and justification of infrastructure
maintenance capital projects to Business Area management and
manages the schedule, cost and accomplishment of objectives.
10. Establishes/maintains a safe department work place and creates
practices to accomplish yearly safety goals.
11. Develop projects using Lean methodology in order to reduce
costs and increase efficiency. Analyze results against plans and
propose corrective actions, providing coaching and support to
ensure successful implementation.
12. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
13. Run Maintenance Pillar
14. Manage and design engineering projects up to 1 million
dollars
Fill in as the engineering manager during period when the current
Engineering Manager is not available
Qualifications
(minimum level of knowledge and skills to fulfill one's
responsibilities)
Work experience needed
1. Bachelors' degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering At
least 20
2. years field experience including maintenance management and
project engineering. With at least 4 years as a maintenance
manager.
3. Ability to operate computer hardware and software programs.
4. Ability to exercise technical, analytical, and leadership skills
in order to ensure that engineering and maintenance objectives are
clearly defined and capital infrastructure maintenance is
ongoing.
5. Drive and PLC programming experience
6. Strong project management skills required.
7. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal
skills required.
8. Previous supervisory skills required.
Minimum formal education
Master's degree

Additional competencies/ Other requirements
- Concentrated effort required to investigate, analyze, plan,
design and direct the execution of a wide variety of engineering
solutions to support the quality, safety, reliability, and
maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Frequent exposure to general factory conditions, including stair
and ladder climbing, physical inspection of various structures,
equipment and piping with limited access available, process
chemicals, and inclement weather conditions while performing
duties.
- Business travel may be required to visit off-site locations.
- This position supports a 7/24 operation and the occupant will be
required to perform duties during emergency situations and project
assignments which may occur outside their regular work
schedule.
- Must avail self with internal and external compliance resources
to be fully cognizant of and compliant with all applicable local,
state and federal regulations relating to building codes, health,
safety and environment.
- Frequent exposure to extreme heat; ability to work in a hot
environment for 12 hours.
- Frequent handling of weights up to 50 lbs.
- Must possess a minimum corrected vision of 20/40.
- Must possess high manual dexterity including ascending and
descending stairs, ramps and ladders.
- Must be able to wear/use required P.P.E. (Personal Protective
Equipment).
- Must have tested adequate hearing ability to ensure safe
operations.
- Climb all stairs and ladders either attached or portable.
- Stand, sit or walk for long periods of time.
- Able to use any tool deemed acceptable by the company.
