Technician III Department: Facilities Reports to: Facilities
Manager FLSA Status: Non - Exempt Job Summary: Keeps premises in a
safe, clean, and orderly condition as instructed and as prescribed
by applicable codes and regulations, agency standards and
expectations. This position is classified as ESSENTIAL; therefore,
the employee must report for work when scheduled or called in,
regardless of weather or other conditions that affect travel, and
remain on duty until relieved by the supervisor, or until the end
of the normal workday, or until the end of the immediate need as
determined by the supervisor. Job Location and Hours: Location: 118
Main St, Hartford, CT Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform routine, semi-skilled repair, and maintenance work,
such as door hardware, glazing, painting, minor plumbing,
carpentry, and mechanical work.
- Follow schedule for routine grounds maintenance, including
fixtures and walkways. Includes landscaping, grounds work and snow
removal.
- Conducts routine inspections and maintenance of heating,
electrical, and air conditioning equipment; replaces filters;
identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs to Facilities
Manager
- Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security;
identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility
maintenance needs to Facilities Manager.
- Immediately report hazardous, deteriorating conditions or
general repair needs to the Facilities Manager and take action as
required to avert danger or further damage.
- Keep the walks, drives and all outside areas clean and safe for
employees, residents, and visitors.
- Transport, store, assemble and install equipment, furniture,
and donations as directed by Facilities Manager; drive agency
vehicles as required
- With the approval of the Facilities Manager establish and
maintain safe and secure storage for maintenance equipment at each
location. Maintain equipment as needed.
- Inform Facilities Manager when supplies are needed.
- Respond, on call, for snow removal and other emergency needs at
agency facilities. Make independent decisions as needed in
emergency situations when the Facilities Manager is
unavailable.
- Meet with vendors onsite as assigned by the Facilities
Manager
- Assists with special events and volunteers, as needed.
- Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of
related safety equipment as required.
- Safely and effectively uses, operates, and maintains equipment
and tools.
- Records work performed and other updates in the maintenance
work order system.
- Perform any other task that will assist the agency in carrying
out its mission as requested. Supervisory Responsibilities: This
job has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and Experience:
- One-year technical school; or one to three years related
experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education
and experience.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent expected. Required
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Bilingual fluency (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency expected (i.e., Microsoft Word,
Outlook.) Certificates and Licenses
- Must have valid Connecticut driver's license and a clean
driving record with proof of automobile insurance. Must have a
vehicle in good working condition. Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations
are mandatory. Compensation & Benefits
- $17-$20 per hour, based on experience plus generous incentive
compensation plan.

- Must be able to climb a ladder, lift to fifty pounds, and
perform other physical tasks associated with the essential job
functions such as moving furniture, using a lawn mower, weed
