The Hartford's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) IT team is seeking a highly motivated IT Engineer focused on Site Reliability Engineering. - The candidate will champion DevSecOps, System Architecture, Monitoring and Security initiatives as well as support and guide on-premises micro services migrations to AWS. Successful candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent technical acumen, proven experience in maintaining and supporting quality systems.

Candidate must have the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. As the primary technical point of contact for interaction with security and infrastructure teams, the successful candidates will have a willingness to learn and understand existing processes and systems and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. - They should be able to make decisions quickly in consultation with team members while building strong relationships with The Hartford security and infrastructure subject matter experts.

Position will be remote and/or in our Hartford, CT office.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Improve and implement the team DevOps pipeline for micro-services and UIs
  • Maintain and enhance existing SOAP/REST services, UIs and 3RD party apps
    • Patching, Outage Notifications, Vulnerabilities, Backups, Storage, Exceptions, Database Security
    • Manage and improve application security and user access
      • DataPower, API Connect, SSO, Configurations
      • Build and integrate AIOps opportunities for application self-healing, high-availability, and performance
      • Support and guide cloud automation initiatives
      • Lead disaster and cyber recovery plans and tests
      • Improve and assist application Quality Engineering, QA testing and development process
      • Autosys batch jobs monitoring and enhancement
      • Work closely with onshore and offshore team to ensure seamless support model
      • Improve and standardize system documentation

        Required Qualifications:

        • 3+ years in a system security or infrastructure role
        • Experience in containerization and operating system administration
        • Knowledge of monitoring and auditing systems
        • Micro-service security, authentication, and authorization
        • Experience with continuous integration, DevOps methodologies, best practices, and tools:
          • Git, Jenkins, Nexus, Rally, Terraform, Cloud Formation, etc.
          • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience as part of a Scrum or Kanban team

            Preferred Qualifications:

            • Working knowledge of RESTful and SOAP Web Services
            • Familiar with development frameworks and databases:
              • Java, Angular, Spring Boot, JBOSS, OpenShift, DataPower, API Connect, SQL Server, Oracle, etc.
              • Experience monitoring and managing AWS cloud services:
                • EC2, ECS, S3, RDS, DocumentDB, APIGateway, SSO, Security, AMI, Cloud SDK etc.
                • Exposure to in the insurance industry and/or risk management
                • Computer Science degree or related technical experience along with several years of system experience
                • AWS SysOps Administrator and/or AWS Advance Networking Certification a plus

                  Compensation

                  The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

                  $80,480 - $120,720
