Job Description:
Family Service League (FSL), a cornerstone in the Long Island
community dedicated to uplifting individuals and families, is
seeking a compassionate and dedicated Housing Specialist. This role
is essential in providing direct support and expert guidance in
housing services, including homelessness prevention, housing
stabilization, and access to related social services. The Housing
Specialist will work closely with clients experiencing housing
insecurity, assisting them through counseling, advocacy, and
resource allocation to ensure they receive the necessary support
for a stable living situation. The ideal candidate will exemplify
FSL's commitment to community service and have a proven track
record of making a measurable difference in the lives of others.
Assess clients' housing needs and eligibility for services such as
housing vouchers, rental assistance, and permanent supportive
housing. Create and maintain case management plans to assist
clients in obtaining and maintaining stable housing. Coordinate
with landlords, housing authorities, and other stakeholders to
ensure that clients have access to suitable housing options.
Educate clients on tenant rights and responsibilities to prevent
homelessness and ensure housing stability. Monitor and document
client progress towards housing stability, and adjust case
management plans as necessary. Provide crisis intervention as
needed to address immediate housing emergencies. Participate in
community outreach efforts to inform and engage the community about
FSL’s housing services. Strong interpersonal and communication
skills Ability to navigate complex housing systems and regulations
Experience in case management software and client databases Crisis

Insurance 401k Certification in Housing Counseling preferred
Training in HUD regulations is a plus
